Robert Iles Obituary

Robert "Bob" L. Iles, age 73, passed away November 25, 2007 at his home in Olathe, KS. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 29, at 3:00p.m., at Grace United Methodist Church, 11485 N. Ridgeview, Olathe, where the family will greet friends immediately following the service. The family suggests remembrances in Bob's name to the Salvation Army, 420 E. Sante Fe, Olathe, 66061. Bob was born September 26, 1934 in Logan, Ohio to Harry and Evelyn Iles. He graduated from St. Clairsville High School, and went on to attend Bowling Green State University, where he received his Master's degree in English Literature. He married Phyllis Hutchinson on December 17, 1955 in Waterville, Ohio. Bob's career as a pharmaceutical representative and medical writer moved their family to Ohio, Michigan, New Jersey, Indiana, and New York State, and most recently, Kansas. Bob and his family relocated to Kansas in order to accept a position from Ewing Kauffman and Marion Laboratories in 1973. In later years, he enjoyed fiction writing, and was published as a novelist and writer of plays and short stories. He also enjoyed restoring MG's, riding along with the Johnson County Sherrif's Dept., and tending to his acreage. Bob was an avid supporter of Olathe High School sports, and also MNU athletics. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Phyllis, of the home, their children, Sarah Johnston and her husband Fritz Graf of Westerville, OH, Christina Robson and her husband Ron, Olathe, KS, Bob Iles of Walnut Creek, CA and James Iles of Denver, CO. He is also survived by six grandchildren, and his sister Betty Jo Weber of Columbus, OH, and Bill Iles, St. Clairsville, OH. To leave a message for the family, please visit www. Penwellgabel.com.

My condolences to the family. I'm so sorry I missed the funeral. I worked with Bob at Marion and he was such a wonderful person. He will be truly missed. What a guy!

My deepest sympathy to all the Family members of Bob's family. Bob and I both started at Marion Laboratories in 1973 and I had the pleasure of administratively supporting Bob and Billy Rupe for many years at Marion. I'll keep you all in my prayers.
