John Franklyn Baughman, Sr., 78, Independence, MO, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2004, at Research Medical Center of Kansas City. John was born November 10, 1925, in Kansas City, MO, the son of Lenes and Maude (Roberts) Baughman. John worked for Lake City Army Ammunition Plant as a Gauge Lab Technician, retiring after 30 years of service. He was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church and V.F.W. Post 1000. John served in WWII and Korea in the US Marine Corps. John was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Mildred Baughman. Survivors include sons John Baughman, Jr., and wife Nancy, and Michael Baughman, both of Independence, MO; daughters Shirley Regan, Independence, MO, and Lisa Smith and husband Garry, St. Louis, MO; sisters Marjorie Anderson, KCMO, Goldie Kohler, St. Charles, MO, and Ada Mae Johnston, Palmdale, CA; seven grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society Kansas City Metro Office, 6700 Antioch Rd., Suite 100, Merriam, KS, 66204-1200. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, January 12 at St. Mark's United Methodist Church on Jennings Rd. Burial will be in Brooking Cemetery, Raytown, MO. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday, January 11 at New Salem Funeral Home, Independence. (Arr. New Salem Funeral Home, 816-7968600)
