Kelvin Montagner Obituary

MONTAGNER June 11, 1999 - Dec. 30, 2006 Kelvin was granted his angel wings on December 30, 2006 after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was just 7, our angel our little soldier. His final days were spent surrounded by his loving family and frie nds. He touched so many and will be remembered always. Kelvin was born in West Covina, California, and later moved to Palmdale where he attended Cimarron Elementary School where he left his mark. He enjoyed playing soccer, swimming, karate and thought he was the Play Station champion of the world. His dream was to become a "Cancer Doctor" to kill the "Monster" as he would call it so that no other child would have to battle such a beast ever again! Kelvin is survived by his daddy, Frank; his mommy, Rocio; and his baby brother, Zachary; and lots of family and friends that will miss him dearly. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 5, 2007, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., and Funeral Services on Saturday January 6, 2007, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., at Church of the Hills at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, CA (800) 204-3131. In lieu of flowers donations to "Kelvin Montagner Donation Fund" Wells Fargo #645-2171355.

To the little Angel, Mommy, Daddy & Zacky, sorry to take so long to write this, but I want you to know that all of you are always in my prayers; I want to thank you for sending those e-mails. Thank you for letting us know about Kelvin, that very very special boy. I cried and prayed every time I read them. When we got the email that Kelvin’s cancer was terminal I couldn’t help not crying and feeling so sad, I thought why? Why such a little person. I talked to the priest in my church and asked him why God does this to little innocent people, he said that there is special Angels from Heaven that have a mission in life and God sends them to us to accomplish their mission and once that mission is accomplished he needs them back in Heaven where they belong. I can see how very well Kelvin accomplished his mission. Kelvin changed the lives of all the people that knew him and knew about him, such a warrior such a strong little boy, I can see what Kelvin did for me with out even knowing him, thanks to him I’m a better mother, I tell my kids how much I love them everyday and try to spend the most possible time with them. He taught me that there is harder things in life and sometimes we drown in a glass of water, I’ve learned so much from this little Angel from this little warrior, with out even knowing Kelvin I can tell that he was a wonderful and sweet little boy and this is why God needed him back and you should be so very proud for being his mother. I’m sure he is looking over you and he doesn’t like to see you sad because he also feels really sad to see you like that, just remember that Kelvin is now on the “BEST CRUISE EVER” and one day all of you will be together again.

To the little soldiers mommy and daddy. Only God knows why some of us take short cuts to Heaven and get there before we get there. If anyone should have left this busy world it seems like it should have been someone older not a little child but who are we to question what our Lord is doing. Everything He does is perfect. His ways are not our ways. All that you have been through with your sweet little soldier has molded you in to a different human being without you even noticing our Lord at work within you. All of this was done through your little angel Kelvin while you took care of him and prepared him to meet Jesus and you grew strong enough to let Jesus take over. May your family continue to grow in the Lord and I pray that God will use you to continue His work here on earth until the day you see your little angel once more. Thank you for the opportunity to know your family through your emails. I cannot tell you how many days I felt ashamed of the petty things I had complained about comparing them to you and Kelvins days. I pray that you will stay strong amd continue down the path while the Lord takes you by the hand until the time you meet again.
May God pour out his heavenly blessings upon your family so you can feel His closeness.

It is never easy to lose someone we love, especially a child. Kelvin is safe and he is in the presence of our Lord, feeling no pain, so sorrow, only joy! Though it is difficult to say "goodbye, it is only for a short time. Until that time, may God grant your family peace and ease your aching hearts. It was an honor to pray for all of you, to the see the courage that each family member had as they have faced the effects that cancer had on little Kelvin. We will all remember him and live fuller lives for just having read your stories. Still praying for you-

Dearest Montagner Family, We have not had the honor of meeting but I felt led to write this note to you. I've followed the forwarded emails and have prayed for healing for Kelvin and strength for you. In his short life he touched so many. Sometimes God needs roses in His garden too, that's why he called Kelvin home. I will continue to pray that God wrap His arm around you, as He wraps His other arm around Kelvin. Much Love to you.

Frank and Rocio - we are friends of miguel and Ruby and have thankfully been included in your email journal distribution. I cannot tell you how much you and your words have changed our lives. So many times when we were having a bad day at our house an email would come over and I would just fall on my face with the realization of how trivial the "bad" days were in our house. Because of you and your words I prayed over my children, because of you I hugged my children so much more, because of you I loved our children more, because of you I was a better mother more often. I know that many of my friends that I sent your emails to also did and felt the same. You see, Kelvin did not die in vain - even through the horribleness of this disease God used your beautiful son and your strength and courage to touch a MULTITUDE of people and change their lives. Thank you for allowing the Lord to use you and thank you for opening your heart at this sad time in all of your lives and sharing your raw, true emotions with all of us. It helped us to realize our mortality on this earth and more importantly reminded us to cherish our family and friends and to love with all our might. God bless your family today and always and just know that our family is praying that you all will transition through this season in your life as peacefully as possible. Can't wait to meet Kelvin in heaven one day and either can our two kids. Love to you all, Jill,Jeff,Jake and Payton Howie.

Rocio, Frank and family,
My heart is overwhelmed with the love I would like to express to you. Having prayed with the e-mail prayer requests over the past year or so, I feel so closely connected with you. I also suffered a great loss and know the pain, yet know that Jesus is right here receiving our loved ones and the smile on their faces when they see His face is hope in my heart.

Through forwarded emails, I too followed Kelvin's short life on this earth. I cried, got excited at a new treatment, closed my eyes in prayer, yet I never met Kelvin, nor his grieving, albeit, strong family.
My prayers continue to be with you, that you stay strong and heal as quickly as humanly possible.
God Bless You, as He and Kelvin now watch over you, his family.
