My love & condolences are with Barry & Marcie and their families.

Teddy was the mother of my best & dearest friend Dani. During our 25 year friendship I experienced what a loving and generous mother she was. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for her family.

After Dani's sudden passing Teddi stayed in contact with me, giving of her time & friendship.

Now she's with her Sambo and her lovely daughter Dani.

We will miss you Teddi, but your light will continue to shine in all who knew you.

Our thoughts & love are with Barry & Marcie, Ben, Rachel, Gina and Yvette and the rest of her family and friends.

A beacon on Rodeo Drive has been extinguished but something of her will live on in all of us who were privileged to know her.

Teddi inspired us with her love, energy and eternal optimism.

The most amazing lady who I was proud to call my cousin.

God Bless you Teddi, you are the shining light of the Progressive Democrats of our city, and I loved you the moment I met you. You practice the art of humility and the virtue of grace under pressure. As much as you fought for social justice and against the crimes of the Bush-Rove-Cheney administration, you always did it with a quiet knowledge that you had TRUTH on your side. You are one of the truly courageous souls on this planet and you are going to live forever as we carry your mission onward.
With deepest love and sympathy to Marcy and the family.

God Bless you all.
Love
Lydia

I don't think I've ever encountered anyone who so completely gave of herself to those around her. She combined the qualities of the gracious hostess with the soul of a crusader. She also meshed the skills of a political matchmaker with the steely will of someone who knows exactly what she believes in and knows what it takes to get there.

During my time with her, including days spent as a guest in her home, I encountered a trusting soul who was interested in ideas, whether or not they were part of the so-called "conventional wisdom." But Teddi was, of course, not conventional.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

Then once you arrive like always, you will go to work giving whatever assistance you can to better things.

With your guidance we will continue to learn, to teach and bring change that is selfless, fearless and neccessary for the good of all.

Teddi was one of the most joyful, compassionate people I've ever met. Her home was the welcoming center of the struggle for peace and justice. Teddi lived a life full of family, friends and a deep commitment to making the world a better place. I will dearly miss her but when I think of her I will remember her smile, her boundless support for Marcy and all her family and her example that each one of us can make a difference.

I only knew Teddi for a couple years but quickly grew to love and respect her generosity and spirit. Though she once loaned me her clothes, I could never fill her shoes. She always gave of herself freely and without complaint, and carried herself with quiet dignity right to the end. I admire her tremendous dedication and courage and wish I had gotten to know her better.

Teddi touched the lives of literally thousands, and we've all been made the better for it.

Probably none have benefited more by her deep political involvement than the progressives in Los Angeles. Our doyenne took Progressive Democrats of Los Angeles under wing and nurtured our fledgling group into a cohesive functioning political force by being our host and providing us with the central meeting location month after month.

Not stopping there, Teddi became a principal fundraiser for the Progressive Democrats of America nationwide. And not stopping there, she organized a "Great Minds" series of authors that brought us into contact with the finest writers of our times…all in her back yard or living room.

Her lifetime of activism was an inspiration to all, and the best tribute we can give to her memory is to continue working for the peace in the world that she was not to see fulfilled in her lifetime.

Teddi's spirit will live on in the hearts of all those she reached.

An era has passed with Teddi. She brought back the the intellectual salon...hours of thought, civilized behavior, hope...some of our richest hours in the last two years. The fact that she is gone is a wrenching loss. The fact that she was here is a lasting gift.

Her greatest wish was to see her incorruptable daughter Marcy become Senator. We share that wish. We will pick up Teddi's torch and run with it toward that goal....for Teddi, for peace, for a better world.

Teddi has left us, we who are bereft at her passing, with the best legacy possible: her example. Would that we all could have the impact, as activists and workers for peace and social justice, that Teddi has had. Like Joe Hill, I fancy that Teddi would have say, "Don't mourn; organize!".

My thoughts and prayers are with Marcy, Barry, Ron and their family. Teddi was a loving and giving "spirit of peace". She is someone who will be sorely missed, but never forgotten. To honor this wonderful woman, we must move forward her commitment to social justice & peace. Love & Light M.

Two years ago I had the privilege of working with Teddi and Yvette Gil to put together My Life in Pictures, a 350+-page photobook that began at the turn of the 20th century and progressed through Teddi's childhood, her marriage to her beloved Sam, the raising of three dearly loved children, her highly successful career, her strong commitment to peace, and the myriad elements of her busy life in recent years. As with many of Teddi's projects, the book was ambitious, some said overly so, yet she saw it through undaunted.

Teddi was a woman of vision, persistence and principle, forthright yet charming, and blessed with boundless energy.

To Marcy and Gina, whom I have had the pleasure of knowing, and to Barry, Rachel and Ben, whom I feel as though I know through all the snapshots and stories, and to the many others she held dear, my heartfelt condolences on the passing of your beloved Teddi.

I feel so fortunate to have met Teddi, and to be a part of the extended family and community she clearly worked passionately to nurture around her.

Having only briefly known Teddi Winograd for the last year and a half, I have to say that her engaging and luminous concern for the family of humanity shined through the intention of her service. The events she hosted in her lovely home enlightened and uplifted us all into a more intimate understanding that a more peaceful and equitable world is indeed possible. Teddi Winograd was building that world -- and to honor her life, we will continue on with the construction of this brighter place for all.

I met Teddi during Marcy's campaign for Congress. She was completely supportive and passionate about peace and justice. Teddi was generous, kind, and witty. She loved her children and grandchildren immensely, and was proud of them all. Teddi was a truly delightful and caring human being.
We will all miss her very much.

I secretly cherished Teddi (maybe not so secretly) as my own mother since mine passed and is sorely missed. Teddi's wit, her courage, her devotion to her children, her sense of fun (playing the ponies!) her love of life, her fighting spirit in the face of injustice, her generosity in sharing her abundance and her wisdom in the face of adversity was great instruction to all of us who had the pleasure of knowing her in our political activism. I feel very, very lucky to have known her (thank you, Marcy!!!!) This world is a better place not just because of what she did but because of how she lived. Her unforgettable voice echoes in my head with solace, humor, and guidance. Her children and grandchildren carry on her spirit! My heart just keeps giving her a standing ovation as I think of her on her journey...

Teddi Winograd was a great Lady, with a capital "L". Throughout the Winograd campaign, I was touched by her fierce pride in Marcy, and her willingness to show up and stand for the right cause. It was an honor and delight to be around her.

Teddi Winograd was the best of us, the east, west, north and the south of us. She was the universal bard of the bountiful brain., I don’t know what Teddi was made of, but whatever it was, they ought to bottle it. So much for the wrath of God. If there was one person I would like to meet in heaven, it is Teddi Winograd. In a world that relentlessly markets materialism, Teddi made room for heart and wit and deep spirituality. Her example was inspiration to us all and by example she created a seismic effect on everyone who met her. I will miss her much.

Teddi was the best mother-in-law a fellow could have, a compassionate, intelligent, caring soul with a sense of biting humor, acute sense of observation and of the absurd, and a cheerful willingness to participate in the adventures of her children and grandchildren, and lead some adventures of her own. I will miss her deeply.

Teddi Winograd is one of the greatest women I've ever known. She was a force of nature. Generous, loving, funny, and completely devoted to her family and friends.

Teddi was a tireless worker for peace and social justice. I will miss her warmth, her infectious smile, the twinkle in her eye, her charm, and the great grace she showed to everyone she met.

Fortunately for the peace and justice movement, and for our nation, Teddi's wonderful daughter Marcy is continuing the legacy of her parents' dedication to social causes. The Winograds' social activism and compassion will be diligently carried on.

Though I didn't know Teddi well, I was acquainted with her through her daughter and was always struck by her warmth, kindness and generosity. Her strength and convictions were inspiring to many. She will be missed.

I was privileged to spend many political and educational evenings in Teddi's lovely home and garden. She was always warm and gracious and treated me as a friend, even though I was just one of many many guests at a "Great Minds Series", a PDA meeting or another political event. What a wonderful legacy she has left for her family - and all of us.
