Eva Ann Wonderley Eva Ann Wonderley, 77, of Grottoes, passed away Monday, September 2, 2013, at her home after a short battle with an astrocytoma brain tumor. Eva Ann was born in Fort Defiance on January 23, 1936, and was a daughter of the late Leslie E. and Gernie P. (Boyers) Fifer Sr. She was a member of Mount Horeb Presbyterian Church in Grottoes, where she loved to cook for her church family as well as her own family. She and her husband shared a family tradition of apple butter boiling at the church, Sunnyside, as well as at home. She was a giving person and nothing pleased her more than having their home filled with family, friends, food and fellowship. She also loved gardening, taking her grandchildren and great-grandchildren for rides on her golf cart, and feeding the birds and her cats. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, caregiver, and volunteer. On November 6, 1953, she was united in marriage to Andrew Lee Wonderley, who preceded her in death on April 21, 2013. Eva Ann "Nanny" is survived by six children, Connie Dinkle and husband, Charlie, of Grottoes, P. Harvey Wonderley and wife, Linda, of Grottoes, Sally Newman and husband, Jeff, of Grottoes, Julie Wonderley of Grottoes, Patty Wonderley of Grottoes, and Andrea Mars and husband, Chris, of McGahhysville; two sisters, Katherine L. Wine and husband, Jack, of Verona, and Wanda F. Shaver of Nashville, Tennessee; a brother, Everette B. Fifer of Verona; 14 grandchildren, Ben Dinkle, Brian Dinkle, Aaron Wonderley, Jonathan Wonderley, Hilary Powers, JoAnna Wonderley, Alayna Wonderley, Katelyn Dickerson, Ashley Newman, Andrew "Drew" Wonderley, Daniel Wonderley, Abbie Mars, Seth Mars, and Samuel Mars; 13 great- grandchildren, Jackson Dinkle, Cadance Dinkle, Selah Dinkle, Wyatt Wonderley, Rebecca Wonderley, Virginia Wonderley, Jacob Noel, Ethan Powers, Addison Dickerson, Cole Dickerson, Koen Koogler, Emily Wonderley, and Jack Wonderley also survive. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Evan Powers; and a brother, Leslie E. Fifer Jr. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2013, at Johnson Funeral Service in Grottoes, or anytime at her childrens homes. A memorial service will be conducted 4 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2013, at Mount Horeb Presbyterian Church in Grottoes, with Chaplain Paul O'Gorek and the Reverend Sally Robinson officiating.
