Sprinting Toward Danger
As a boy, his dream was to be a firefighter, a hero. As a man, Glenn Winuk became a prominent Manhattan lawyer, but he used his lifelong interest in fighting fires as a volunteer in his hometown, Jericho, N.Y. He was so committed, such a natural, the town named him fire commissioner.

So on Sept. 11, Mr. Winuk, 40, did what he, as a firefighter, had been trained to do. First, he escorted people from his law firm, Holland & Knight, a block and a half from the trade center. He was last seen headed for the towers. "If I had been there with him that day, I wouldn't have been able to stop him from trying to help," said Mr. Winuk's older brother, Jay. "Even though he became a lawyer, my brother always saw himself as a firefighter. It was a passion for him, the chance to help someone."

When terrorists bombed the World Trade Center in 1993, Mr. Winuk, still dressed in a suit, rushed to help, too. "If it has to be that he did not survive this time," Jay Winuk said, "then in our eyes, he went down being an American hero. We're proud of him."

Not sure what to say?

Hard to believe it’s been 22 years since that dreadful day. We did our 9-11 memorial at the firehouse and ended it at a park named for Glenn. Those of us who knew Glenn will always remember him.

Always in our hearts and memory , Glen.

Remembering Glennalwaysmay his memory be a blessing.

Another year, Glen, and your memory remains in our hearts forever .
Nostalgia brings out so many emotional thoughts and especially today as here in England we are mourning the death of our dear Queen .
Give her a true firefighter greeting as she joins you in the heavenly world beyond .

20 years later, and, you are missed more as time moves on! Your loss deprived so many of your wisdom, friendship, and, best confidante anyone could ever need! I miss you, and, love you brother!

More than ever, the world needs to remember the horror of this atrocity and the heroism which you gave , as a volunteer, to save others lives .
You will always remain in out hearts and minds and we pray that such acts of wilful murder will never grace this planet again.
Rest in peace, Glen, your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Glenn,
Can't believe it's been 19 years since 9/11/01. I was just at tobay beach in August and they have a 9/11 memorial and your name is in it. I am Alan Cantor's son. I remember meeting you in my dads office. Think of you all the time. Jay I hope you see this. Rest In Peace Glenn.

Anniversaries are often times for recollection and thanksgiving which can provide , for those of us who have survived another year, a sense of gratitude and peace.
Nothing will ever erase the memory of the atrocity which took away Glen’s life but this last year has exhibited global trials of survival the like of which the world has never witnessed before or on such a scale.
However, 9/11 will for ever remain the single most horrific day of human horror which took away this...
