"I have loved you through Leola's love, tears, laughter, pain and joy. It's your time... rest with Jesus." Gloria McCright (San Antonio, TX by way of Newport News, VA)

My prayers and love have always been with you. Though we never met, I feel that I have always known you through the stories, and pictures that your beloved Leola shared about you. Reading of your life is a testament of God and His love for you. God brought you full circle back to Himself. He knew you before you were formed in the womb, you just had to get to know Him...and get to know Him you did indeed.
Leola, may God's love comfort and keep you until you see Mama again.
Love and blessings follow you because you love and bless others.
Gloria, Newport News, VA by way of San Antonio Texas.

Mama, thanks for having and loving me. Your strength, beauty, laughter, pain, and faith in GOD has molded me to who I am today. True friends inconvenience themselves for you even when you can give nothing in return. I am grateful for the support and love given to my Mama while she was here on this side. Bernice Cody, Cheryl Rhoden, Mattie Jackson, Sarah L. Smith, Leona Rolle, members of Sista Chat Book Club, my nieces Carol and Zerlena and nephew Tyrone, my sister Daisy, my brother and Mama's baby, David, who were all anchors committed to their cause and God-given purpose. I shall forever remember her caring nurse attendants, Joannie Smith, Emma McSwain, and wonderful, patient and compassionate home healthcare assistants Magalys, Olga and Gicela, and a magnificent physician Dr. John Jackson. Ms. Farrington, Ms. Bentley and all the residents of Ward Tower ALF on NW 54th Street who greeted Mama, the Mango Lady, each day with astounding love and warmth. Shot-out to Mama's 63rd St Jolivette neighbors and Kathleen Casey a tremendous friend to my Mama. My most sincere gratitude to my New Birth Cathedral of Faith mentor and Sunday Bible Study members and instructor, Min. Evelyn Elps and exceptional members -- Laura Jones, Annie Stafford, Liz Williams that continue to demonstrate fruits of the spirit; my childhood friend who is just a phone call away Cheryl "Cha-Garrett" Cox; a godly Godmother, Vernell Dollard; and members of Miami Jackson Class of 1972. Much respect for Al and Twylah Dotson in King George, VA and Gloria McCright in San Antonio Texas who exhibit their enduring love and prayers. GOD will bless you because you blessed me!

I never got to know her, but from the article in the Miami Herald, I could feel her greatness. Your family has my condolences. May God grant you and your family peace during this hard time. Be happy in your sorrow. She was a warrior. The Price Family, (Brownsub) Miami, Florida

What a legacy - this is story that needs to be told over and over. So often we forget the struggles and obstacles black women had to face to better their families. Very beautiful and amazing woman and I thank God for giving me the opportunity to meet her. My first mango was one that she gave me. Such a blessing.
