Ronald Marchetti Obituary

CANASTOTA - Ronald F. Marchetti, 66, Galavotti Place, died Friday, June 24, 2011 in the Abraham House, Utica where he had been a patient for the past eighteen days.
Born in Canastota on July 22, 1944, he was the son of Victor and Ruth Wilson Marchetti. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a graduate of Canastota High School, Class of 1962. He married Marie Stagnitta in Canastota on May 7, 1966.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Marchetti was the owner and operator of Marchetti's Garage. He was a communicant of St. Agatha's Church and was the past chief of the Canastota Fire Department, where he was a member for 45 years. Ron was the chairman of the Village of Canastota Zoning Board of Appeals and a Town of Lenox councilman for 12 years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, E. Bart Hanifin Council No. 473.
Surviving besides his wife, Marie, are one son and daughter-in-law, Anthony J. and Cheri Marchetti of Chittenango; one daughter and son-in-law, Leigh and John Dimao of Alden; three grandchildren, Lisa and John Marchetti and Ava Dimao; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Sue Marchetti of Charlotte, NC, Edward and Jan Marchetti of Rochester and Victor and Ellen Marchetti of Cortland and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Robert, in 2005.
Funeral
Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, from St. Agatha's Church, where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Reverend William Mesmer.Interment will be made in St. Agatha's Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 300 South Peterboro St., Canastota, on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Contributions, in Ronald's memory, may be made to the Abraham House,1203 Kemble Street, Utica, NY 13501. Envelopes may be obtained at the funeral home.
