McCLANNAN, Morris Ray Age 90, of Liberty Twp., died on December 31, 2017 at Birchwood Care Center after a very long struggle with Alzheimer's. He was born February 3, 1927, in Piqua, Ohio, son of the late James Eritt McClannan and Ida Marie Spade McClannan. He joined the Navy on December 11, 1945 and served 28 months at sea in the American Theatre, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre, The Liberation of Philippines, receiving 1 star, and World War II Victory. He served as a Seaman First Class Radarman and received an Honorable Discharge on October 10, 1947. After returning to the States he received his high school diploma. In June 1950, he married the love of his life Joan Lois Darling, at Greene Street United Methodist Church in Piqua, Ohio. They celebrated 45 years of marriage. He is survived by their only child, daughter, Kelly Jo McClannan Barkley (husband Gary) of Liberty Township, Ohio, grandchildren , Brandon Barkley of Orange County, California, Austin Barkley of Liberty Township, Ohio, and Emily Barkley of Fairfield, Ohio (fianc? Zach Wernicke). He retired from McCall's Printing (Dayton Press) as a foreman with over 30 years of service and went on to provide private maintenance services to multiple clients. He is also survived by Carolyn Eddy whom he married in 2000. Her children and step-children include, Julie Hauwiller (husband Paul), Karen Eddy, Sharon Ellis and families. He is also survived by his brother Donald McClannan of Fresno, California as well as many other loving nieces and nephews. Those loved ones who preceded him in death include his parents James and Marie McClannan, in-laws William and Gladys Darling, brothers Robert McClannan, Gene McClannan and Kenneth Dale McClannan. Sisters and brothers in- law Don and Marjorie Force, Annie McClannan, and Mary McClannan. Nephews, David Force and Robert (Bobby) McClannan. A visitation and memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Avance Funeral Home located at 4976 Winton Road, Fairfield, OH 45014. Visitation from 2-3 pm and service from 3-4 pm. A private burial service will occur at a later time. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
