Danni and I would get so excited to visit Aunt Val. She was able to make anything enjoyable, even something as excruciating to a young kid as antique shopping. Even though it has been years, I can smell the hairspray we played with as we watched her get ready. I can hear her voice, her laugh. Aunt Val has a place all to herself in my heart, and she will be there forever.

Val is my most beloved sister-in-law but we always considered each other sisters. She was such a bright light in my life guiding me through many happy and difficult times. She was so warm, honest, witty, and funny. She always showed her love for life, kitties, friends and family. We had so many fun times together but our best times were girls day out. She knew how to shop! When my daughters were young, we would drag them along and they were ok with that because they could be with Aunt Val. We loved to reminisce about our childhood and share stories of friends and families. Val will be in my heart forever. I will miss her so much.
Love you Bal!

I remember when my dad first introduced us to Valerie. My brother and I knew she was the one for him. Even though she did not have kids of her own, she treated us well and took an interest in us like she was a natural at it. I still remember her teaching me to drive a stick. It was so frustrating but she was so patient and worked me through it. She was always so positive. Even though we didn't speak on a regular basis, I hope she knew we still thought of her often. We will miss her.

Val loved cats! She had many over the years but she also fed other cats in her neighborhood, even possums! That is just the way she was. Val and I attended school together from kindergarten through graduation in Mason. We also attended OSU and roomed together. We have remained friends over the year and we have had many adventures, especially in antique flee markets. I will always have fond memories of my Bal (nickname). Dann (Pokey) you were a rock through Val’s long illness. Thank you and God Bless You.

Valerie and I were childhood friends. If she wasn’t at my house I was at hers there on Stitt Road in Mason. We shared a love of pop music in the 60’s- especially the Beatles and Lou Christie. We attended the Beatle’s concert together in Cincinnati at the old Crosley Field in 1966. We stayed in touch over the years and always exchanged Christmas cards. She will always hold a special place in my heart. Rest In Peace dear friend.

Dann - I am so sorry for your loss. Val was a beautiful, gentle, caring soul, who holds a special place in my heart. I have several plants in my home that Val has given me for certain important events, which I have nurtured for over 20 years. Every time I look at these plants, I think of Val and it brings me a bit of comfort, especially knowing how much of a plant lover Val was. Sending all my heartfelt condolences. Much love.

Val was always smiling and laughing. She was a bright spot in my day when she would appear at my door at work. We shared a love for our cats. She was a strong woman who put aside her own issues to help others. I will miss her and hearing her laughter. Taken way too soon, rest in peace my friend. Until we meet again...

Valerie was our next door neighbor for 17 years. She and I became quick friends after learning that we both had a passion for flower gardening, decorating our home, and most of all kitty cats. Valerie was a wonderful neighbor and friend and we spent many hours together discussing our "fur babies". When my husband and I would go out of town Valerie would always take wonderful care of our kitties and I would reciprocate when she and Dann went on trips. She loved her Kitty, Teddy, Georgie, Callie, and Mickey almost as if they were human. She was always concerned for kitties who had no home, food, and no one to love them. She bought only the best food for her kitties and would always put bowls of food and water on the back porch for neighbor cats to come eat. She kept Dann busy building heated houses and lounging areas for any stray that might show up. Just like "Motel 6" she would leave the light on for them to find their way to her door. Several years ago Curt and I took an extended trip to Ireland. I didn't ask Valerie to care for our kitties because I knew she was heavily involved in caring for her mother and working at Berns. Boy, I should have known better! She got very mad at me because I had asked a stranger to care for our kitties. How could you she asked? Well, we talked it out, I apologized profusely and she was quick to forgive. Shortly after we moved into our new home in S.C. Valerie called me and told me that she had cancer. I was shocked but she was very positive and told me that she was going to take treatment and beat the odds. I know Valerie fought hard. Although I am sad she is gone from this earth I know where she is and we will be neighbors again. I hope my mansion will be next door to hers. On December 4, 2011 Valerie asked Jesus into her heart and was baptized at Tri-County Baptist Church. She had a strong desire to be pleasing to her Heavenly Father and to her earthly father. When she told her dad what she had done he said "that's my girl". Valerie and I had many conversations about our Lord. She had a desire to learn more of His love for her. One of the books she read shortly after her baptism was THE PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE. The opening line in the book reads; it's not all about you. Valerie knew it wasn't all about her. She loved to help her family and others any time she could. We will meet again and I will know where to find her. She will be in a beautiful flower garden and kitties will be playing around her. Rest easy dear friend. You are missed. Love, Millie Ramsey, Curt, Samantha, Midge, and Liberty Belle

I worked with Val many years ago but she was more than just a coworker - she became a friend very quickly. She was a loving, kind, and compassionate person who had a heart of gold. She had a wonderful sense of humor and kept me laughing at her jokes and the way she saw life. We could giggle about almost anything. I loved our time working together. She had a true love for animals, especially her cats, and always was happy to help anyone out when they needed it. She was a true gem and I know the world is more lonely without her. She will truly be missed.
Thoughts and prayers for her, Dann and all her family. May she rest in God's eternal peace and may perpetual light shine upon her.
