Robert KING Obituary

KING, Jr., Robert Lee On August 13th, 2020, Robert Lee King, Jr., (one of the kindest men to ever walk the face of this earth) went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Robert was born in Dayton, Ohio, on November 2, 1949, to Rev. Robert Lee King, Sr. and Healen King. He graduated in 1967, from Roosevelt High School and preceded on to proudly serve in the United States Air Force, after which he spent his remaining working years in civil service. His love for his country, his family and his friends were the foundation of everything he did. Robert was the adored father to his son, Chet (Virendy) of Texas, and daughter, Brandee (James) of Ohio, along with 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Robert was preceded in death by both of his parents and 2 of his sisters: Jaqueline King Johnson, and Gwendolyn Pearl King. He leaves behind his adored siblings, Minister Lela Warren, Evangelist Brenda King, Deborah Conway, brother Ronnie T. King, and a host of nieces and nephews. Also left to mourn his passing are his two dear friends: Victor Parham and Angie Singleton, who will forever remember him for his love, his generosity, his laughter and his kindness. To say he will be missed would be a huge understatement. The void he leaves behind in our lives can never be filled. Our prayer is that he always knew how special and loved he was. Being who he was, and always caring for others, Robert donated his body to Wright State School of Medicine for medical research. His burial will be at the Dayton Veterans Cemetery where he will proudly be laid to rest with the other selfless Veterans who have fought for our country. Because of our current Pandemic, Robert requested, prior to his death, that no services be held.

Coming up on 5 years, and the pain is still as real as the day you passed away. Feeling very lonely without your wisdom and guidance. The boys still speak of you. We look at your pictures regularly. Pictures do not fill the void of your absence, honestly just reminders of what was. I love you with the depth of my entire soul. I always tell the kids I feel you in the wind. Windy days are my favorite! it is like you are sending me a hug, man I miss your hugs. Priceless. As always thank for all you did for me and the unconditional that you gave me and taught me. Love you and one day we will reunite. And the Browns FINALLY win games, LOL it took you being in heaven for that to happen, they just needed the right angel on their side. Love you POPs not one day passes without thinking of you. NOT ONE.

Your daughter,
Brandee

Four years later and I still feel the same hurt and pain from losing you. I often close my eyes and act like you are sitting right next to me. I imagine the feel of your beard from hugging you. I still seek your wisdom with no response. Time has not made your loss easier actually harder knowing I will never see you again. I love you beyond any words can express. So much I want to tell you. You got me, you knew, you understood my crazy..LOL, you always responded with patience and love. That was your way. Thank you soooo much for the values and wisdom that you gave to me. The kids still speak of you often and Mom misses you everyday. Love you Pops!!!! My GUY!!!!

It does not seem possible that a year has passed since Rodney left us to go be with the Lord. He had a special place in my heart for his kindness and willingness to give of his all when it was needed. He also was my dearest Buckeye buddy.

One year has passed since my best friend passed away...not a day has gone by that I havent seen his face and remembered his unselfish, kind , giving personality. I thank the Lord for taking him home in such a painless, gentle way and I pray he knows how much he is loved and missed by so many.

I have nothing but sweet and fun memories of seeing you when we would come to visit. You always made time to play with us no matter how tired you were. I remember Stephanie and I running to the door when you would come home because we loved when you would spin us around in circles. Well, you maybe only got through about a half of a circle with me since I was older and bigger, lol. I'll never forget pouting one morning over being served oatmeal for breakfast. You saw me sitting at the counter having a pity party and came over with your finger over your mouth saying "Shhh" and sneaking me a bowl of Smacks, your favorite cereal. Growing up, you take for granted that the ones who have always been there for you will always continue to be. Unfortunately, it's moments like these that make you realize how temporary life is and how quickly the years pass in the blink of an eye. However, I find joy in knowing that I will one day see you again. I feel so blessed to have had you in my life. You are missed more than you know.

Love you, Uncle Rodney. xoxo

There is so much I can say about my Dad. I have never been much of an writer. So I will keep it short and share just a few of my fondest memories through pictures (seeing is believing). One of the most valuable lessons (and there were many) I learned from my Dad is..... It is not our words said or written that make who we are, it is are actions or even our inaction that best exemplifies our true character. I love you Dad you were my protector, mentor, friend and now my angel. Until we meet again ..... Your daughter Brandee

My heart was heavy to hear of your passing, but thankful to God for lending you to us. However on August 13th, God decided He wanted His child back with Him. Thank you for accepting me and for your continued love and support towards us. We will miss coming to see you during spring break and talking with you. Your kind heart and spirit will always be remembered. Rest well in Christ, until we meet again.

Love you,
Virendy

Rodney was a precious friend that I had the blessing of having in my life for many years. His passing will leave a void in my life for sure. His love and concern for those he loved was very evident. I know that he can now rest in peace with the Lord Jesus Christ, his precious Saviour.

He was my "Buckeye" buddy,

Really tough to believe that I am reading your obituary, man. I Corinthians 13:8 comes to my mind when I reflect on your continued impact on my life. I believe that God had you in mind when he had the author pen this chapter and verse. Thank you for seeing a need and void in a little boy's life and then making the decision, the life long commitment to meet and feel it. In a world that puffs itself up on accomplishments and accolades in the hopes that their life has meaning and will have meant something when their time is over on this earth, you did the opposite. Choosing instead to love those in need asking absolutely nothing in return and trusting that your effort and sacrifices, many of which were neither seen or even known by those they were for, would be the true definition of Godly success on this earth; a life of meaning and value.

While you are not here physically anymore, your life lived will continue to have a positive impact through me and all those you loved and sacrificed for during your time on this earth. We have talked about this inevitable time to come; its here now. Thank you for the talks, the wisdom, and the listening ear. I'll see you again soon, for sure.

Dad-Until then, though, rest easy in Christ. Love never fails, so I can only imagine the Lord welcoming you with arms wide open and letting you know your life was the true definition of a success. Love you, man!

Robert was my best friend throughout most of my life. He exemplified what a true Christian is. He loved unselfishly with no conditions. The world was a better place while he was in it. He will never be forgotton by all those who loved him.
