Still missing ya unc, I only met you once and you made a great impression on me. I was just getting to know you over the phone and I planned on flying to Florida. I'm sorry I didn't make it. We had many great conversations. I Love you big dawg, rest easy.

I was fortunate to meet Jim when he was Chief Steward for the International Ice Racing Association in the 70’s. Being from Canada I usually only saw him in the winter on the frozen lakes. One day however in the summer we were in the Cities and driving in rush hour on 494. All of a sudden a Black Mercedes began honking and gesturing at me. Wondered what I had done but it was Jim he had spotted an Ontario license plate. He signalled for us to follow him home and invited us for supper. He introduced us to Gloria and she said she hoped he had a meal planned because it was her bowling night. Kevin was drumming downstairs so we ordered pizza and had a great time. As a racer I was always able to find out where he was and how he was doing. Our condolences in the loss of a wonderful man. Roger and Barb Rickards. Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada

I worked with Jim about 10 years ago in rehab. I meet many people in my line of work as a Respiratory Therapist, though not many who have touched me the same way that he did. He always carried himself with a quiet but humble strength and pride. We enjoyed a few conversations about his experiences in the Army Air Corps, vs mine in the Air Force. Of course they were very different times and experiences. My prayers and love to everyone in his family. Aim High, Jim.

When I first joined SCCA in the late 80s, I would often go to Jim for advice on GCR questions I might have. He counselled rules and regs with great style and grace. I looked up to him and loved talking cars. He was a most fascinating person to know. We have lost a true gentleman. My sincere condolences to his family. GODSPEED kind sir. You will be missed.
