Alyce Stone

Columbus, N.C. - Alyce Stone Sanders Poe, 92, of Columbus, N.C., died December 1, 2020, in Landrum, S.C.

She was born in Springfield, Ohio, the daughter of Carlos W. and Jeanne Stone. She was a life-long homemaker and bookkeeper, and a former member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and First United Church of Christ.

Survivors are two sons, John P. (Phil) Sanders, Jr., of St Augustine, FL, and Matt Sanders of Greenville, S.C., a grandson, John P. (Trey) Sanders III of Jacksonville, FL, husband, Larry Poe of Columbus, N.C., and a niece, Katie Springer of Greeley, Colo, and three stepdaughters.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John P. Sanders, and a sister, Betty Jane Yates.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the Tryon Presbyterian Church's Memorial Fund, 430 Harmon Field Road, Tryon, NC 28782.

McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon is in charge of arrangements.
