Ellen J.

Ellen J. Baber nee Goeke, age 73, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away at Oaks of West Kettering on December 11, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph W. and Joan Goeke; husband, Claude Baber Jr.; and brothers-in-law, James Baber, Boone Baber, and John Christopher. She is survived by her daughter, Andrea M. (Vern) Smith of Bradenton, FL; son, Jeffrey J. (Gretchen) Baber of Virginia Beach, VA; sisters, Karen J. Christopher of Lake Worth, FL, and Debra J. (Dennis) Munhall of St. Petersburg, FL; brothers, Ralph J. (Deborah) Goeke of Dayton, OH, and Roger J. (Sue) Goeke of Columbus, OH; five grandchildren: Jessica Bergeron, Lauren Baber, Bethany Terry, Zachary Baber and Noah Smith as well as four great-grandchildren: Lily Foster, Kayden Ore, Michael Major and Charlotte Terry. Ellen leaves an indelible mark on all of the lives she touched. She lived her life determined to rise above all that life threw at her. She had a strong will but easygoing positive personality and loved her family with all her heart. Her love for old westerns, margaritas and purple hair will never be forgotten. A memorial mass will take place at a later date in 2021. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ellen's memory may be sent to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Avenue, Dayton, OH 45420.

Ellen will always be in my memory. What a spunky, sweet woman that stood for what she believed in. Keep sending us those purple sunsets Ellen!! You are missed.

I met Ellen just over a year ago at The Oaks of West Kettering. She immediately became one of my favorite people. I will never forget you, Ellen. With every purple sky, I know you are there.
