Jane was an inspiration to me in many ways. As a friend, she treated everyone with love and a warm smile. Her warmth resonated in every visit and phone call I had with her. On shabbat, we'd walk to Beth Jacob together and were always there early and stayed late to say Birkat HaMazon with Stan, Nancy, and Stu. Mrs. Segal taught me a great deal about Judaism, but not through a class or lecture, but by her example. She had a strong faith and love for the community. The last 3 years of visits playing the shofar, or taking her challah, or just to say hello on the phone and talk about our days and our mutual love of music and NPR, Mrs. Segal was a friend and mentor that I cannot thank enough. She touched all of us at the synagogue and has been a great blessing in my life. Our last conversation, we talked a good while and she had the same positive tone and hope she always did. In the last conversation we shared, she talked about how happy she was that more people came to services and wished me luck as I was preparing to student teach. She will be missed and remembered for the amazing person she is. To Mrs. Segal, thank you for being a friend and blessing to me. You were always there for me and my life is better having had you in it.
