Michael WILLIAMS Obituary

WILLIAMS, Michael D. "Mike"

Age 62 of Foley, AL, passed away peacefully at home

Wednesday, December 30, 2020. Michael began life

September 13, 1958, in Beavercreek, OH, son of

William E. "Bill" Williams and Marilyn K. (Leach) Williams. As a youth he enjoyed playing baseball and football but as a teenager switched his focus from sports to attending church after becoming saved at

Dayton Baptist Temple. After high school, he pursued his Bachelor in Pastoral Theology, Hyles-Anderson College, Crown Point, IN. After graduation, he came back to Dayton to teach at Temple Christian School and to work part-time at his brother's business, Minuteman Press. Later, he taught high-school at Middletown Christian School, Middletown, OH. All the while, he had a yearning to become a doctor so while

continuing to teach he earned his Bachelor of Science in

Pre-Medicine, University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio. He was

accepted by multiple medical schools and decided on Midwestern University/Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, Chicago, IL. He graduated in 1991 with a Doctor of Osteopathy. He did his Intern and Family Practice Residency at

University Community Hospital/Centurion Hospital, Tampa, FL. During his medical career between 1995-2002, he practiced in Fort Myers, FL, and Monticello, KY. Between 2003-2010,

Michael took a break from medicine and taught high-school at Temple Heights Christian School, Tampa, FL, and Grace Christian School, Valrico, FL. He inspired many students to

pursue their dreams. In 2011, he completed a Fellowship in Behavioral Health, The University of Alabama, Dept. Of

Psychiatry, Tuscaloosa, AL. He and his wife, Karen, settled in a quaint town of Foley, AL, and accepted a position at Foley Family Practice and recently switched to American Family Care in Fairhope, AL. Dr. Michael Williams was best known for his bedside manner and expertise. He dedicated his life to serving others. Although, a busy family practice doctor; he did reserve time for adventure. In Monticello, KY, he owned and raced a late model Monte Carlo with his wife, mom, uncle and

nephews as his pit crew. What a hoot! In addition to racing, he enjoyed taking flying lessons in his 1960 Cessna 172. Other adventures during vacations included flying in a World War II aircraft, riding in race cars and enjoying the Arizona scenery from a hot air balloon ride. Most recently, he fulfilled his lifelong bucket list item of skydiving from an aircraft at 18,000 ft. At home, he cruised the backroads on his Harley-Davidson Lowrider motorcycle. Michael's legacy continues in the lives he touched here on Earth. He was preceded in death by his

parents William E. "Bill" Williams & Marilyn K. (Leach)

Williams; grandparents William L. & Nellie Dimple Williams; Sherman & Ruby Leach; and an uncle, David Williams. Michael is survived by his loving wife Karen of 37 years; his daughter Heidi Williams and two grandchildren, Natalie & Samantha all of Beavercreek; son and daughter-in-law Matthew & Terri
