Richard CAREY Obituary
Richard B. "Dick" Carey, 82, of Springfield, passed away
January 9, 2021, in Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born September 2, 1938, in Dayton, the son of Alfred J. and Bessie L. (Poole) Carey, Sr. Mr. Carey was a member of the South Charleston Christian
Center and the U.A.W. He
enjoyed visiting with his family and friends and taking trips to Las Vegas and camping at the Ohio River. He was retired from Cooper Energy Services.
Survivors include two children, Lynn (Steven) Cooper and
Steven (Kim) Carey, four grandchildren: Hunter (Kelsie).
Makenzie, Ethan and Bradley, one great-grandchild, Cohen, siblings, Donald (Betty) Carey, Joyce (Robert) Bruce, Doris Reid and Dan (Dawn) Carey, Sr. and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Kristen Carey in 2011, brothers, his twin Robert "Bob" and Alfred Jr. "Bud", and
sister, Betty Sharp and his parents. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday in the South Charleston Christian Center, 328 East Jamestown Street, South Charleston. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday in the church with Pastor Aaron Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Condolences may be shared at

Lynn, and Family, so sorry for the loss of your precious father. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. The church is where is used to attend. Aaron, did mommy funeral also. Very good man. Your dad will be missed by all. Gone , but never forgotten. Buzzy.

Sorry to hear about Dick’s passing. He was a good neighbor. We had a lot of great laughs sitting on his patio. We will miss our good friend. Our prayers are with the Carey family.

Sorry to hear of Dicks passing, prayers for the family.
I used to work with him at Shoemaker Ford years ago.
He always told me he was going to move to Vegas and sweep cigarette buts from between the slot machines. He was a good man and a pleasure to work with and just be around. You will be missed my friend.
