Georgene VERDIN-CHIDSEY Obituary

VERDIN-CHIDSEY,

Georgene R.

"When cardinals appear, angels are near." Now there's one more. Georgene R. Verdin-Chidsey, age 76, previously of Hamilton, Medina and Fairfield, Ohio, passed away on

Friday, November 12, 2021, at Majestic Care Center in Fairfield, Ohio. Born September 12, 1945, to George Dell and Elaine (Einsfeld) Dell, she graduated from Garfield High School in 1963. A natural-born leader, she often took charge, whether planning class reunions, working in the family bar, managing an office, or leading a fraternal organization. She left an indelible mark on everyone she met, and in every organization in which she served. She was a proud American, and a proud Democrat, serving her country in every election as a poll worker in Butler and Medina counties. She was employed as a bookkeeper and office manager at Mense Brothers Insurance in Hamilton for more than 20 years, before moving to Medina in 1996. She then worked for Medina County, retiring from the Medina County Recorder's Office in 2017. She was a charter member of the Fairfield Eagles #3680 having established that club, and of the Medina Eagles #2224. At just 18 years old, she followed in her mother's footsteps and found her love of country and of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, serving as Auxiliary President of the Hamilton FOE #407. She held nearly every office one could hold in the Eagles, culminating as Ohio State Auxiliary President in 1999, East Central Regional President, and was honored as Mother of the year for the Ohio State Auxiliary in 2019-2020. She was a passionate fundraiser and volunteer for several charities including serving on the Board of Trustees of One Way Farm for many years. She is survived by her children Kelli (Mike) Kurtz and Kris Verdin; step-children Jake (Jeni) Chidsey and Jenn Chidsey; grandchildren Evan, Allison, Connor, Kate and Paul; sister, Andrea (Fred) Marcum; brothers Tim (Beckie) Pfister, Terry (Phyllis) Pfister, George (Eileen) Dell, Scott

(Connie) Dell, Eddie Dell and Nick (Gail) Konrad; her dear cousin Carolyn Mayes; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Len Chidsey; her parents; step-father, Andy Pfister; sister, Donna Dell; daughter-in-law, Trisha Verdin; and her "second mother" Elsie Wolke. Visitation will be held Friday, November 19, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at the Charles C. Young Funeral Home, 4032 Hamilton Cleves Road, Ross, Ohio, followed by the Fraternal Order of Eagles Services and a Blessing Service at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m., Fr. Michael Pucke officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be sent to the Georgene Verdin-Chidsey Scholarship Fund, c/o Ohio State Auxiliary FOE, Debbie Sharp Secretary, 404 Kennison Avenue, New Carlisle, Ohio 45344, or to the Alzheimer's Association, 644 Linn St., Suite 1026, Cincinnati, Ohio 45203, but perhaps the best way to remember her is to deck your halls this Christmas, display a cardinal in your tree, and slow down and enjoy the all the backroads.
