Charles Schuler Obituary
Nov. 8, 1930 - Jan. 14, 2023
Known to his family as "Bob" and the rest of us as "Chuck," Charles Robert Schuler passed away peacefully at home in Oxford on Saturday, January 14. He was 92. Born in Minford, Ohio, Chuck served 4 years in the US Navy before attending Miami University in 1955 receiving his business degree in '57 and MBA in '58. He taught at Miami before joining the Admission Staff. He became Director of Admissions in 1964 and held the position until his retirement in 1990. A big supporter of Miami Athletics. He missed one home football game from 1955-2019. He was an active theatre, symphony, opera goer supporting many arts organizations in the area over the years. He was a member of the Oxford Lions Club. He cherished his college pals he stayed in contact with all these years. You know who you are! He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Myrtle (Cunningham) Schuler and siblings, Alice (Albert) Gampp, Thomas (Phyllis) Schuler, Harry Schuler, Ellora (George) Kent. Survived by many nieces and nephews and long time friend Stuart Reynolds. Per Chuck's request there will be no service. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

I met Chuck when he interviewed me at Gray Gables in May 1972. I took a year off between high school and college. Chuck found me in NYC in Jan 1974 and we had dinner at Frankie & Johnnie's Steak House and went to see Pippin. I attended Miami for 1 year before transferring to Northwestern. He was a true and loyal friend and we always stayed in touch. Goodbye old friend, rest in peace.

I worked for Chuck in the Admissions Office from 1983-1987. He was a tough boss, especially to a young person right out of college in the 1980's--but we all knew that he always had our back and would support us if there was ever a question about an admission decision. We have exchanged Christmas cards every year since 1987, and I always considered him a person of great integrity. I will miss his sense of humor and comments about Purdue's basketball coaches!

Will sincerely miss my dear friend, Chuck, who I first met in the 1960s as a student at Miami U. Through fifty years, he shared his own friends and fun and unique sense of humor and style. One of a kind! RIP

Chuck always had a big smile and back in the day, would never forget your name. My sympathy to his family and friends, and Stu. Miami has lost a true treasurer, sports fan and friend to all.
