Hatsue Reams Obituary
Hatsue Shimizu Reams, 91, of Middletown, Ohio, passed away peacefully at the Alois Alzheimer Center on April 16, 2024.
She was born in Tokyo, Japan on January 23, 1933. Hatsue was preceded in death by her mother and father, and 4 brothers. And is survived by her Brother, 2 daughters, Patty Reams and Christy Turner (Jack) and her 4 grandkids, Ashley, Max, Nick and Chelsea.
The family intends to have a small private service in the summer for immediate family only.

Hatsue was a very warm and beautiful woman. Such a great mom to you and grandmother to your children.
May your many memories of wonderful times spent with your mom be with you now and be passed down through generations.

When Hatsue first came to America, she was a hesitant speaker of English and solidly a product of Japanese culture. My whole family tried to learn from her. She was well-dressed, a little shy, and she covered her mouth whenever she giggled. We learned from her to count in Japanese, to sing the cherry blossom song "Sakura," and how to eat the lovely foods she cooked, gyosa, tempura, and "chou han." In our naivete, we shared rice pudding and Southern sweet tea, and pronounced her name as though the first syllable was "Hat." Once she and her family had moved into their own home, we understood her more. She was gracious to guests, offering strong black tea as we entered the door and took off our shoes. She was always a good mother with a powerful drive to do what is best for her children. She was always gracious and giving, ordering treats from Japan or making useful gifts that she shared even recently. She worked hard to become an American citizen. I have always respected her and will miss her.
