Mike Hall´s friendship blessed my life from the time we were 8 years old @ Woodward Elementary, all the way through graduation from Cross Keys High School. After college & grad school, we lived in different cities, but my happy memories of our treasured friendship never faded. At our 50th CKHS Reunion, it was such a joy to see him again & that big, warm smile of his was still the same. I always cherished Mike´s friendship, even though we didn´t get to share much time as adults. But having his friendship all those years, from childhood through adolescence, left an unforgettable impression on me. I admired Mike´s kindness, his loyalty & support for us fortunate friends, his keen intellect, quick wit & sense of humor, & his serious approach to academics, blended with a sense of playfulness. It is hard to lose such a dear friendship that began when we were children, but I thank God that Mike Hall was, & will always be, such a blessing to my life.

Mike was a dear friend. We had so many experiences with our daughter´s activities and playing cards. He was a good colleague at DCC and I will always think of him during The Price is Right - a DCC breakroom tradition.

I knew Mike, not as a man, but as a boy. He, Bill Westcott , and I shared all the same classes in high school. But after Cross Keys our adult encounters could be counted on the toes of a chicken. However, our friendship helped mold my early development. Shortly after meeting him I boasted of a new book and author I had discovered - E. R. Burroughs. Mike proceeded to educate me that the book was one in the middle of a series of 11 books and that that series was just one of many by that author. Only he and I understood an offhand reference to John Carter. Mike's clever, witty, scything comments taught me to think carefully before I spoke and to be sure I knew the definition of a word before usage. Our hilarious, ridiculous pun volleys forced me to strengthen my creative and quick response mental muscles. His compact cogent writing style encouraged me to improve my own writing. Mike was a gifted, natural - if desultory - athlete. While he loped the 440, the rest of us churned arms and legs, gasping for air. After only a few tennis matches, I realized that not only was I never going to win, but that he was refraining from embarrassing me by not running up the score. I admired Mike. I sought his respect and friendship. Though we haven't seen each other much in the last 55 years, I feel my huddle of good friends has been diminished. I'll miss him.
