Mary Keeler Obituary

Keeler (Holland), Mary Jean

Mary Jean (Holland) Keeler passed away on August 20, 2024 following a short illness. She was preceded in death earlier this year by her husband of nearly 61 years, D. Robert Keeler. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Keith) Freeze and Beverly Keeler; Her stepson, David Keeler; Four grandchildren and five great grandchildren; Her sister Carol (John) Larson and five nieces and nephews. Also, her cat, Buddy, who wandered into our lives in October 2020 when she needed him the most. Mary Jean was born in Rochester, New York in 1938. She graduated from Rochester Business Institute in 1957 and worked as a legal secretary in Rochester and Dayton. Later, she would spend many years working at the family business, Dayton Legal Blank Co., whenever and wherever she was needed. Her first love was horses, which led her as a young woman to join the White Horse Troupe, an all-female horse troupe that performed at horse shows, rodeos, and fairs across the country. She loved playing handbells and played with many area church and community choirs over the past 40 years. She was an active member of Shiloh Church for 60 years, serving on many committees and as a long-time member of the handbell choir. Mary Jean enjoyed volunteering for the Dayton Philharmonic, especially with the Q the Music program, school programs and family concerts. She was also proud to be a long-time member of the Dayton Mother of Twins Club. Bob and Mary Jean loved traveling, boating and spending time with family and friends. Visitation at Shiloh Church 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 29, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm. There will be a Livestream link available on funeral home website. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Mary Jean's name to Shiloh Church, the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance to support learning and volunteer programs, or to a charity of your choice.
