Fredric Schwieterman Obituary

Schwieterman, Fredric G.

SCHWIETERMAN, Fredric "Fred" G., age 83, of Bellbrook, passed peacefully on Sunday, August 25, 2024.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Emily Schwieterman; three brothers, Rodney Schwieterman, Gary Schwieterman, and Doug Schwieterman; and one sister, Gloria Reich. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Marsha Schwieterman; two daughters, Lynn (Tommy) Thompson and Lisa (Mike) Messer; one son, Kevin Schwieterman; one sister, Debbie (Dave) Mullins; sister-in-law, Laura Schwieterman; eight grandchildren, Jackie Thompson, Taylor Thompson, Jennifer Glascock, Cody Messer, Stephanie Schwieterman, Austin Schwieterman, Josh (Kara) Schwieterman, and Brittany (Shane) Nock; and eight great-grandchildren, Kyle, Clayton, Kristen, Malia, Dorian, Noah, Aubrey, and Amelia.

Fred was a proud graduate of Chaminade High School, Class of 1959. As a young child and through most of his youth, Fred worked alongside his father in the Dayton area family hardware stores. He learned many practical skills there, forming his meticulous nature and strong work ethic. In his adult life, he truly enjoyed being a great handyman. He could fix or build just about anything. Fred always had one or more projects going on. It was just in his nature. Throughout his life, he spent much of his extra time helping friends and family with their projects. With the help of his brothers and friends, he built the Bellbrook family homestead and, soon after, a building for his own business. Fred owned and operated Suburban Auto Body in Centerville for over 39 years. His attention to detail in his work and customer service were well known.

Fred's passion for cars extended beyond his professional life. He loved to follow the NASCAR race circuit. The Daytona 500 was one of his favorite events. In his early years, Fred even did some racing on his own at the local tracks. Always with a collection of vehicles, he treasured his '56 Chevy the most. Fred organized and served as President of the Centerville Americana Festival car show for over ten years. Fred liked many sports as well. He and Marsha enjoyed watching their beloved UD Flyers with season tickets for over 40 years.

In retirement, Fred enjoyed traveling with his wife in their large motorcoach. In recent years, they spent several months on the road traveling across the country, exploring many states, and visiting family and friends along the way.

Fred was a family man his entire life. He enjoyed the large family gatherings with plenty of good food and friendly but competitive Euchre games into the night. Many memories were made at the family lake house on Grand Lake St. Marys, pontoon boat rides, water sports, and maybe some fishing. He loved sitting around the campfire at night for hours, eating s'mores, telling stories, and passing on his wisdom and advice to all the younger generations. Over the years, his love and support have been invaluable to all of us. With his faith in the Lord, we know he will look over the family and people he loved so dearly.

Fred was an amazing friend and mentor. I had the privilege of working with him many years ago, but often his words of wisdom helped me through difficult times. May God's peace, which passeth all understanding, be with the family during this time.
