Glenda Ruth Varner Harenberg, 97, of Springfield, Ohio died December 30, 2024 at Aventura at Oakwood Village, Springfield, OH. She was born November 16, 1927 in Holdenville, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Fred and Audra Smith Varner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul F. Harenberg, whom she married July 31, 1954. Mrs. Harenberg was a graduate of Salem High School and Salem University, Salem, WV. She was a retired teacher from Northeastern High School with 37 years of service. She served as advisor to the Northeastern Chapter of the National Honor Society for 13 years. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star of Salem, WV, Northridge Lioness Club, Ohio Retired Teachers Association, Associate member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority, Clark County Home Economics Association, Ohio Teachers Association, Ohio Educational Association, Ohio Business Teachers Association, Clark County Teachers Association, and Charter Member Springfield Area Business Teachers Association. She also attended the Northridge United Methodist Church. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 from 11:00-12:00 PM at the Jackson Lytle and Lewis Life Celebration Center, Springfield. The funeral will begin at 12:00 PM, also at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Oak Dale Cemetery, Urbana. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Springfield Foundation- Scholarship Fund In Memory of Glenda Harenberg.
