Veronica Aguilar, a remarkable woman, crossed my path over a decade ago through a mutual friend. Julie had confided in me about her recent cancer diagnosis, and I, having been diagnosed with cancer a few years prior, felt compelled to reach out. Although I can´t remember who initiated the conversation, I vividly recall our first phone call. Veronica exuded a genuine warmth and ease of conversation, despite the gravity of her recent diagnosis.
As we spent time together, we discovered shared interests and a deep connection. We delved into profound topics such as life, energy, vibrations, engaging in thought-provoking discussions. Our friendship blossomed, and we often met up to share our thoughts and experiences. One memorable evening, we found ourselves at her favorite Thai restaurant on Patterson Road. As we enjoyed our meal, we discovered a shared connection-we had both attended the same school and had the same professor at the University of Dayton, (ELMI)where we had studied English. The realization that we both knew our professor, Randy, brought a sense of surprise and joy to our conversation.
Another delightful moment occurred at the same Thai restaurant. Veronica shared with me with a story about her childhood in Mexico. She recalled riding the mini bus, not in a safe manner, but rather behind it, not on it. Our laughter echoed through the restaurant, creating a moment of pure joy and connection. These shared experiences, both big and small, left an indelible mark on my memory.
Veronica was a truly remarkable person. Her kindness and compassion knew no bounds, and she had a deep love for animals, particularly cats. She possessed a kind heart and a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Veronica´s absence will be deeply felt, and her memory will forever be cherished.
