I do not know you but my heart and prayers are with you and your family. My daughter, Sgt. Ali Bush is in the Air Force and will be returning for her 3rd trip to Afghanistan in the near future. There is no way that I can appropriately express my sorrow at the loss of this brave soldier or give proper thanks for his sacrifice. It was not in vain and for those military families that know the cost their loved ones are paying----these are the true heroes. Debbie in Birmingham, Al.

”Honor and Remember” - “Project Compassion” We love our Soldiers! We love our country and we cannot express enough love and compassion to the families of our fallen heroes. War does not discriminate – It breaks our hearts to see the faces of the fallen. We want to give this gift to the hero’s Mother, Father and/or spouse. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization! Almost 2,100 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
This is a gift! We have wonderful sponsors who help with the costs, and want you know that everyone here at Project Compassion does and will always CARE.
Contact us directly at [email protected] or go to www.heropaintings.com . If you have already had a portrait completed, we pray that you are enjoying the portrait and God Bless You.
Sincerely and Respectfully,

To the Prewitt Family,
My husband, SFC Jimmy E. Harrison now, was the Soldier who rushed in to aid Kelley. It just so happens that he has to go to some sort of reception this year to talk about this experience. I was trying to find out more about it and ended up on your guess book. I am so sorry for your lost. Your family will always remain in our prayers.

To the family of my fallen brother in arms, Returning to fort benning and meeting you all broke my heart. Prewitt was a wonderful person and a good soldier. He had plans to return home and live his life. The night before he left us on that last mission he slept in my cot on the back of our truck playing cards with the guys- I pulled guard duty with the 50 cal mounted on the front of our truck. It tears me thinking about it. I wish I could have been on that mission that day, maybe he would have survived, or the odds could have played out in our favor. Spc. Aiken was really close to him. We all liked him and loved him. I am so sorry he did not come home. All the guys were tore up when we found out that he was gone. But he is with us in our hearts and minds and I will never forget him. God bless you all.

To the Prewitt family,
Please know that just as your loved one will forever remain in your hearts and minds, his sacrifice and that of your family, will remain with the people he died defending. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for his bravery and selflessness, or the heartache we feel for your loss. God grant you the peace that passes all understanding.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers today.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

Kelley, I know I have done this several times over the last couple of years, but I can't say it enough. THANK YOU for the ultimate sacrifice that you gave. Its because of people like you that we are able to live free and worship GOD and not be worried about someone taking our lives because of it. Thank you again!! To the Prewitt family, you are still in our prayers!! We love you! God Bless!!

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guest book for the rest of my life, but I promised Le Ron A. Wilson (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

My hero!! You are still missed and we still think of you. Kristy's son DJ (8 years old now) and I were riding down Hwy 11 listening to The National Anthem and he asked me, since it was Memorial Day Weekend could we go by and visit your grave. We did and we ran into Ralph Martin and he was visiting Shelly's grave. It's strange that you two are right there in walking distant of each and how you two were so close growing up. I know you two are looking down on us. You will never be forgotten, Kelley and the price you paid for our freedom!!!!

I've just discovered this site tonight, has it been 3 yrs? I remember being with you Jean the day you got the news and how sad we all were and still are. I can recall every detail of the memorial service and think about the photos Kelley had in his helmet. I think of Kelley almost every day. My son Josh had already signed to join the Marines as a senior in high school when this terrible tragedy happened to Kelley, he was even more determined to go. Josh met Kelley when Kelley was a teenager and Josh was about 10 and he thought he was so funny and cool. Cpl. Josh Cagle, Marine Intel. Analyst left for Iraq Valentines Day and he mentions Kelley often when we talk. Josh and I have gone together to visit Kelley's grave and Josh went again before he left for Iraq. I know you all are proud of Kelley's unselfishness and bravery. KELLEY WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN! Your family is in my thoughts and prayers and has been since 2003 and I pray your hearts are healing more every day!

Hi mom and dad prewitt, I cant believe how long its been. Its candi. to you guys i wanted to say thank you for feeding me all the time, as you know my parents did the same for kelley. thats one thing that boy could do is eat. if it were not for you guys i would have never got to meet my guardian angel. little kelley is now 2 years old and every time i look in his eyes i see your son.its the reason i get out of bed every day. I love you both and miss you terribly. To kelley i cant lie some days are good and some not so good.Of course you have a pretty good view from up there, and just so you know i hear you all the time when you tell me to shutup and quit crying. I hear you every time im listening to "outcast" and you tell me to turn it up. I see you every time were telling a story and your 2 year old godson gives me that smirk. the three of us were inseperable(jeremy, you, and i)Dont ever leave me. i treasure your presence.I'll talk with you in my prayers tonight kel, but untill then i want to leave you with a quote from someone who taught us a lot about life..."Heroes eventually die, horoscopes often lie, sometimes why, nothin is for sure, nothin is for certain, nothin last forever but untill they close the curtain, its him and i-aquemini."

I never met Kelley but my son, Justin, was a good friend of Kelley's. I feel like I knew him because of how much Justin talked about Kelley. Justin "accidentally" ran into Kelley at Batteries Plus the day before he shipped out to Iraq and was able to able to tell him goodbye. It is a memory that Justin will never forget. I would like you to know that largely because of Kelley, his life, his friendship to Justin, and ultimately his death, Justin has changed his life and become a wonderful young man. He is married and has a young son himself. I wanted you to know that what Kelley went through DID make a difference in the lives of those who loved him.
I continue to pray for you and your family.

Psalm 23
1
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3
He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!
My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!

My condolences to the family. I know it doesn't get any easier with each passing year, and I want you to know that he is not forgotten. I went to high school with Kelley, and even though I only spoke to him a few times he was always nice to me even though he was older than me. I cried the morning I saw his photo on the news. Never had the situation hit so close to home before that morning. I continue to say a prayer for the family each time I hear of another brave American who made the greatest sacrifice for our country. Thank you.
