Hello,

We apologize for being so late in expressing our deepest condolences to you and your family. We want you to know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Thomas Jason David Mileo US Marine Corporal.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families, friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

War does not discriminate – It breaks our hearts to see the faces of the fallen. We want to give this gift to the hero’s Mother, Father and/or spouse. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization! Almost 2,100 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
This is a gift! We have wonderful sponsors who help with the costs, and want you know that everyone here at Project Compassion does and will always CARE.

I had the great pleaseure of knowing CPL Mileo. I was the 7th Marines NBCD Chief during the invasion and we chewed the same ground. He was a hard-charger who always performed top-notch and did whatever it took to get the job done! He, as we all were, was proud to be MARINES! Semper Fidelis! ~SSGT Michael Tucker

To the Mileo family,
Please know that just as your loved one will forever remain in your hearts and minds, his sacrifice and that of your family, will remain with the people he died defending. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for his bravery and selflessness, or the heartache we feel for your loss. God grant you the peace that passes all understanding.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers today.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

He is my hero.

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guest book for the rest of my life, but I promised LE RON A. WILSON (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

Mr. and Mrs. Mileo,

I never knew your son.I wish I had..I would have liked to thank him for his willingness to protect our country.

My heart goes out to you .I have a 9 year old son, he sees the men overthere and wants to grow up and be able to do what they have done for us.

I have many friends over there. To me they are real men...your son was one of them.

My prayers go out to you and all those left behind.

Know that now Jason is at rest in God's arms.God has honored him for all he did....for no greater love can a man show than to lay down his life for another...Jason must have had a big heart...we know you will miss him very much.

We pray that God's Holy Spirit will give you comfort and peace.

Jason will live in your hearts and memories ....

I can't help but cry for your sorrrow.Asking God to take your tears and put them in a bottle...

and place joy in your heart for the son you raised so well..

Now he is with the angels watching over all of you...

Dear Family of Cpl. Jason David Mileo...I have tears in my eyes as I write this. Your son gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country. I will never forget him or his beautiful face. He is America's son. Sign me sending you my love from one of America's military Moms (one son a SEAL, one in the AF, and the baby a Marine). Mr. and Mrs. Hall,

My name is Wayne, and Jason was a very good friend of mine in high school. I don't know if you remember, but we hung out a lot. We went to senior week together and he even visited Penn State with me. Jason was one of the few who believed I could do what I do today which is Meteorology. He visited Penn State with me and my decision not to attend the school was influenced by him. I'm now at Millersville University in Lancaster, PA thanks to him. I was very sad to hear the news, however my sorrow turned to gratefulness because he died defending the American dream and the liberties for which we all take for granted daily. I'm proud to have had Jason as a friend. He was a brave and special friend and I'll always miss him. I'm turely sorry for your loss, and my thoughts and prayers go with you all. Take care and god bless.

Leah & Phil,

I didn't know Jason all that well but the few times that I was around him, he seemed to be a wonderful child. He grew to be incredible young man and an outstanding soldier. There are no words to say that will comfort you during these difficult times. We will keep you in our prayers.

Dear Leah and Phil,

I can't begin to express my deepest sympathies over the loss of Jason. I can recall so many times you speaking about him and you always had that love in your eyes as all mothers do when they talk about their children. He seemed like the ideal son, who also loved and always wanted to protect his mom. Maybe that's where he got his desire to want to serve and protect his nation. What an honorable and noble young man you raised. I know no words can comfort you at this time, but I pray with all my heart that God is with you and your family and that somehow you know that Jason will always be with you in your heart, your soul, and your spirt. You have all my love and sympathy - from one mother to another, from one friend to another. God Bless you.
