Johnnie Lurlean Richards, 90, of Mexia passed away Friday, May 24, 2008. She was born Oct. 12, 1917, in Buffalo and raised by Earnest and Mary Talley. Johnnie grew up farming and picking cotton. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, unselfish and devoted to her family. For 35 years she worked for the family business, Richards Exxon located in Corsicana.A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. today at Corley Funeral Chapel with Brother Bill Honea officiating.She was preceded in death by a son, James Howard; parents; three sisters and two brothers.Johnnie is survived by her husband, Ralph Richards; sons, Jack Howard Shivers and wife Della of Corsicana and Dale Ralph Richards of Malakoff; grandsons, Tony Cole Shivers and wife Mary of Wortham, Clayton Howard Shivers and wife Christi of Mexia, and John Dale Richards and wife Anna Marie of Pennsylvania; great-grandchildren, Ashley Ansley and husband Jeffrey, Whitney N. Shivers, Alley Shivers, M.J. Shivers, Trinity Shivers, Calob Bowden, Cole Shivers, Jack Henry Richards, Mary Rose Richards and Alex John Richards; great-great-grandchildren, Holton Ely Ansley and Haylee Dianda Shivers; sisters, Willie Scroggins, Earnestine McCauley, Faye Bailey and Betty Talley; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, James Howard; parents, three sisters and two brothers.
