Deborah Kaye Bates The funeral for Deborah Kaye Bates, 53, of Athens will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Charles Thompson and Keith Turberville officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Ms. Bates died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at home. She was born May 26, 1955, in Alabama to John D. Furline and Mary N. Scroggins Furline. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She is survived by one son, Daniel Bates and wife Amy of Athens; one brother, John Furline and wife Dawn of Athens; five sisters, Rita Furline of Huntsville, Peggy Tunstill and husband Jim of Athens, Patricia Brown and husband George of Huntsville, Shirley Dixon of Prospect, Tenn., and Judy McLemore and husband Doug of Rogersville; two grandchildren, Curt Bates and Bryleigh Bates; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Darren Tunstill, Don Tunstill, Marc Dixon, Mike Dixon, Will Beasley and Allen Brown.

To the family of Deborah Kaye Bates, It wasn't until a little while ago that I heard about your loss and won't be able to attend the services. Please know that you are ALL in our thoughts and prayers, and we are so very sorry for this untimely death of such a lovely wife, mom, and sister. God Bless you all, Ann Haney and family
