Herald Farley Obituary

Herald Roy Farley, 82, Topeka, died Sat., Jan. 31, 2009, at Brewster Place. He was born May 9, 1926, at Hayworth, OK, son of Gracie Pitts Farley and Roy Farley. He was an Army Veteran of World War II; having served for six years. He worked at Falleys and Goodyear Tire & Rubber. He was a member of the Oakland Un. Methodist Church; Topeka North Post # 400 of the American Legion; and U.R.W. Local 307. He married Mildred Woods Reed on July 18, 1967. She preceded him in death on Feb. 22, 2008. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and 4 brothers. He is survived by a step-son: Ron Reed of Memphis, TN; a step-daughter: Jeannette Reed Flott of Topeka; 6 step-grandchildren; 9 step-great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters; and 3 brothers. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Fri., Feb. 6, 2009, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Topeka North Post # 400 will conduct military honors at Mount Hope Cemetery. Herald will lie in state after 5:00 PM, Thurs., at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.
