Elfred K. Catland, Jr., of North Tonawanda, entered into eternal rest, unexpectedly, Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at the age of 80. Born in Lynn, MA, Mr. Catland resided in the Tonawandas for the past seventy years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired employee of Armstrong Pumps. Elfred enjoyed camping, sports and his cats, Callie and Putzy.Husband of the late Noreen E. (nee Noble) Catland, who died December 17, 2008; father of Elfred (Janet) Catland III and Peter Catland, both of Texas; grandfather of Sarah, Elisabeth, Peter, Jr. and Xiomara; step-father of Linda M. Barmann of North Tonawanda, Diane I. Bork of Wilson, Susan B. (Robert) Talladay of Waterport, NY and Kevin A. (Patricia) Bork of North Tonawanda; step-grandfather of 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; brother of Esther McGee of Cowlesville, NY, Florence (Cloyd) Fike of North Tonawanda and the late George (Norma) Catland, Beth Giles and Robert Catland; also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family will be present to greet relatives and friends for a memorial gathering at the Saber Funeral Home, 549 Oliver St., North Tonawanda (692-0271) on SATURDAY, April 4th from 2-3 PM, where Pastor Karen Grinnell will have funeral services at 2:30 PM.Visit www.legacy.com/tonawanda-news for on-line guest register.
