I worked with Joe at the Indianapolis Star until 2000. Joe was fun to know and I enjoyed his friendship. What a neat guy he was! Not only was Joe a hard worker at the Star he also was a mechanic at home. Before his health failed him he impressed me with his interest of repairing a clunker. He was always looking for a bargain that he could fix. He loved to turn trash into treasure. He would fix a car, truck, power mower,or even a broken down farm tractor. He would tackle just about anything. We shared similar interest and I was always amazed at what he would repair. I'll miss my friend and my thoughts go out to his family.

Joe was a very warm giving man, always made you smile. I had not seen him for many years and was sad to read of his passing. My prayers be with his family and may your faith in our Lord give you guidance and peace.

My family and I are very sorry for your loss. Joe was always very sweet and welcoming to me. I hope our thoughts and prayers are with you to help you get through these next few days, weeks, and months. I remember Joe and Emma being pretty good buddies. We still have her. Once again, you are in my thoughts.
