Nancy Tansil Obituary

Tansil, Nancy Died Monday, May 25, at home. She was born October 28, 1942 in Marlin, Texas to Mr. and Mrs. E.E. "Buzzie" Eddins, an old Falls County family. Nancy graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1960. She attended SMU, where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. In December of 1963 she married Tom Tansil in Wynne Chapel, Highland Park Presbyterian Church. She graduated with a B.A. in French in 1965. After raising two sons, she returned to SMU for an M.A. in art history in 1982. In the mid 70s, her husband Tom's job as a telecommunications engineer required that he work and live in Paris, France for almost a year, assisting customer Credit Lyonnnais (a large French bank) with the setup of a computer system for funds transfer operations; so the family of four, sons age 4 and 7, moved into an apartment in Paris. Nancy returned to the Park Cities where she was active in the school's PTA, and began giving lectures, book reviews, and adult education programs on European art and art history. She also led art history tour groups to France and England. She was a member of HP Presbyterian Church, the Dallas Woman's Club, Marianne Scruggs Garden Club and the Tuesday Book Club. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Thomas B. Tansil, their two sons and wives Chris Tansil and Yun, Brad Tansil and Marisa, and new grandson Nicolas. Also by her mother-in-law Mrs. B. F. Tansil of University Park, and brother-in-law Michael W. Tansil. A memorial service for Nancy will be at 2PM Thursday, May 28 in Wynne Chapel, HP Presbyterian Church. Donations may be made to Vitas Hospice, 8585 N. Stemmons 75247, and to the Cancer Coalition National Processing Center, P.O. Box 7086, Dallas 75209.

Dear Tansil Family

My heart goes out to you all.
I am so sorry to hear of your recent loss. I was a docent with Nancy at the DMA and loved her vast wealth of knowledge, appreciation of the arts, and most of all...her sense of humor. Adieu mon ami!

Dear Tom, and Family,
Elen called the night before I left for Colorado to tell me that Edds has died. I'm so sorry for your loss, and wish I could have come to the funeral this week. It hardly seems real, but I know you all were her raisons d'etre, and must have suffered with her in her illness, too.
My sympathy and love,
Margaret Madeley

My thoughts and special condolences are with Nancy's family. I went to East Side School and High School with Nancy, and thought the most of her. She will be missed by many of us that grew up along side her and her parents.
