Ward L. Senteney, 73, of Charleston, passed away at 12:06 p.m., Friday, June 19, 2009 at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana. Funeral services honoring his life will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Harper-Swickard Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Boaz officiating. Flag presentation will be performed by Paul McVey V.F.W. Post 1592. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials in his honor may be made to Medical Memorial of Springfield to help defray medication costs for kidney transplant recipients. Ward was born Nov. 22, 1935, at Farmington, the son of Joseph Bouck Senteney and Martha Helen (Bennett) Senteney. He married Patty L. Livingston, March 2, 1954, and she preceded him in death Feb. 2, 1991. He married June (McCord) O'Hair, Aug. 31, 1991 and she survives.  Ward was a career U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the Korean War and Vietnam War. He retired from Warner-Ishi in Shelbyville, where he was an electrician in charge of plant maintenance. He had a love of woodworking and wildlife, and he enjoyed trap-shooting and traveling. He also treasured his close-knit family, and enjoyed spending time with friends. Survivors include his children, Rodney L. Senteney of Herrick, Tama L. Buenker and husband Bill of Teutopolis and Roger A. Senteney of Herrick; two stepdaughters, Sara Jennings and husband Eric of Charleston and Angie McCullough and husband Chris of Mattoon; one sister, Joann Lawyer and husband Philip of Lerna; one brother, Steven Senteney and wife Wanda of Washington; grandchildren, Andy Shick, Aaron Shick, Chris Senteney and Brianne Senteney; stepgrandchildren, Todd Buenker, Timothy Buenker, Brian Buenker, Joshua Jennings, Valerie Jennings, Allison McCullough, Stephen McCullough and Alex McCullough and eight great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Ward Senteney; one daughter, Terri Beth Senteney; and one infant brother.
