Betty Hathcock

Betty Sue Drye Hathcock, 72, of 40862 Mt. View Church Rd., Albemarle, died at 5:33 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Stanly Regional Medical Center.Her funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday, July 26 at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Wayne Richardson will officiate and burial will be in Palestine Cemetery.Born June 16, 1937 in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Selma Hall Drye. She was a graduate of New London High School and was an employee of Total Care.She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and was a very active member in the church. She loved coastal fishing, gardening and her grandchildren.She was married to the late D. Bain Hathcock, Sr., who preceded her in death November 2007.Survivors include son, Todd W. Hathcock and wife Darlene of Locust; daughters, Sue H. Pickler and husband Paul of Albemarle and Trina H. Ingold and husband Brian of New London; sisters, Johnsie Herlocker of Badin; Jean Thompson of Oakboro; Vivian Sinclair; and Sherry Hudson both of Albemarle; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by brother, Richard Glenn Drye; sister, Faye Pickler and one great-grandchild.The family received friends at Stanly Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday from 6-8 p.m. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 6000 Fairview Rd., Suite 200, Charlotte, N.C. 28210 or Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. 1st St., Albemarle, N.C. 28001.Stanly Funeral Home is serving the family.
