Betty Jean Norris Newton

Marion-Betty Jean Norris Newton, age 71 of West Main Drive Extension, Forest City died Saturday July 25, 2009 at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville. She was a native of McDowell County and a daughter of the late Hattie Marie Norris; a retired textile employee and a member of Glenwood Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Sammy Newton of the home; sons: Terry Daniel Effler and his wife, Martha and Dennis Edward Effler and his wife, Lynette all of Marion; daughter, Pamela Jean Painter and her husband, Dwayne of Marion, step daughter, Norlina Newton Cochran and her husband, Billy of Ellenboro; a sister, Freddie Janette Hawkins and her husband, Donald of Marion; grandchildren: Destiny Morgan and husband, David of Marion, Shane Effler, Teven Effler, Delena Effler all of Marion, Samantha Cochran of Ellenboro; great-grandchildren, Macy Morgan, Hailey Morgan both of Marion, and cousins Dottie Wills and Brenda Williams, both of Marion. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2009 in the Glenwood Baptist Church with the Revs. Jason Toney and Charles Street officiating. Interment will follow in the Cool Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the Glenwood Christian Academy, 461 Bostic Sunshine Highway, Bostic, NC 28018.
