Ethel Tanner Obituary

Ethel Newman Tanner

Ethel Newman Tanner, of the Summit Health and Rehab Center and formerly of Gladys, passed away Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009. She was the daughter of the late James Benjamin Newman and Lura Chambers Newman. She was the wife of the late Norman A. Tanner, and they were married for 68 years. She is survived by a sister, Doris Martin, and her husband, Ed, of Lynchburg; her sister, Dorothy Newman, and her husband, Cody, of Forest; and one brother, Nat Newman, and his wife, Nancy, of Body Camp. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, at the Tanner Family Cemetery, 8552 Red House Road, Gladys, with Pastor James E. Galford officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 5662 Red House Road, Rustburg, VA 24588.

The family would like to thank the staff on Town Square Unit at the Summit Health and Rehab Center for the care and compassion given to Ethel during her stay.
