Although I didn't get many chances to see you face to face, I enjoyed every conversation we shared and I enjoyed having you for a younger brother (although you acted as if you were older. I miss not having you a phone call away. Love your big sister for life. V. Alexander...P.S. Tanya is a handful and I sure could use some help. lol

Taft,
I still can't believe you are gone. I think about you every day and miss the great times we had and will always remember you as a great friend, peer and comrade. There are always little things that happen during the day that do not allow me to forget the great person you were and still are. You will never be forgotten by me or my family.

I am truly sorry for your loss. I was stationed with Will and was his roommate during his time in Darmstadt, GE. I worked with him in the motor pool along with SGT Kevin Olson, SPC Phillip Brown, SPC Shane Cox, SPC Whitehead. He was a very funny man and always talked about "Nawlins" (New Orleans). He used to let me use his car to go to the other post, Cambrai, also in Darmstadt. Most of the time it was always empty so I had to fill it up. I even remember having to push start it a few times. He was a great friend. Taft you will be missed and never forgotten. My deepest condolences to your family.

To the family im so sorry, Would like to say a little story, I meet Sgt Williams in Germany 2000, He picked me up in the airport and I was a private fresh out of traning, He was like what is your middle name because the army but nmn, so he try to pronouse it and i was like i dont have a middle name so later on we found out the NMN meant no middle name, Its was funny and we had a good laugh. I will never forget him, we was my mentor, trainer and showed me everything I needed to know while i was serving with him. The day he went with God I was in Iraq in a different company and location, but I still found out thru SGT Collings, It really hurt me. But the family is always in my prayers and may God bless his soul.

As I sit here and give thanks to all of the brave men and women who have, humbly given their lives for all of us, my mind fell on Taft. I can still remember Taft's smile while walking down the halls in school. My heart broke when I learned of his passing, on our schools web page. I will never forget you, Taft and may God continue to bring comfort to your family.

I just got the news a few days ago while talking to a friend at the gym, when I asked about Big Will and if he had seen him, he told me what had happen to one great guy I met while stationed in Germany. Will was a great guy whom would do anything to help you out and was very good with computers. We often chatted on yahoo messenger and still to this day I have him on my buddy list. I'm just glad to have met a great person like Will, God Bess his family!

I had the honor calling Taft both a friend and comrade. It was a very sad day for all that knew him when he was lost. I will never forget how he touched my life and those around him. It was the hardest day of my life when we gave his memorial at Al Asad. I did not want to let such a wonderful brother go. He is truly missed and I will never forget him. I to this day wear a braclet in his honor.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Taft, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

5 years is a long time when you don’t have your Son, brother, father or husband. I spent 2 years in Iraq, and it has changed me in ways unexplainable. I think of Taft everyday, I make sure that my soldiers understand the sacrifice that not only Taft paid but also the price his family pays everyday with out their loved one. I am so sorry that he is not here, and often think why I was spared, when so many others perished. I will make sure that others never forget, and I am thankful that I had the opportunity to share a part of life with him in high school, and as a Soldier.

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

My deepest sympathy to the family of my friend Taft William:

Taft and I went to Clark High School together, we were in the ROTC with his sister and played foot ball together. I recall Taft being soft spoken and always respectful. That is what made him a good man.
After graduation in 92 we all went our separate ways, and like many of us, we lost contact. I heard over time that he was in the army, so was I, but did not know where he was.
My heart was saddened to hear he was a victim of a senseless war. I attended the funeral in support of my friend, and continue to soldier in the US Army reserves. I will continue to pray for his family and children. His children will never know how great a father they had, but I can tell them he was a honorable man, with courage and the tenderness to tame.
I am proud of Tafts service to America, he deserves much more. Please know that he is not forgotten and his name is spoken by his friends and know to those who did not know him.
Respectfully,

Psalm 23

1

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

2

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

3

He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!

My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!

My prayers are with the family of Sgt. Taft V. Williams. I'm a mother and can understand how a mother may worry about her child. I pray that at this time the family is remembering the joy, laughter and wonderful memories that was shared with him. Rejoice and celebrate the life he lived to sustain you, instead of mourning the end of his life, because he lives on in you and through you. You are his family and he will continue to touch lives, touch the air, sunshine, rain and the earth through you. So, please smile, laugh and give thanks to God for allowing Sgt. Taft to have been and still remains a physical part of your life, and will forever be a mental and emotional part of you spiritually.

My deepest condolences go out to Will's family and friends. I met Will right before he got deployed to Kosovo in 1995. He was a very sweet and caring person, loved to laugh and joke. He wrote me a lot of letters while in Kosovo and called me plenty of times. Simone, my condolences also go out to you and your daughter. I don't know if you remember but we have talked on the phone once or twice as well back then. I am so sorry your little girl has to go through this... I know how it is, I lost my BROTHER-in-law end of last year to Iraq as well... and I see my little nieces and nephews growing up without a father now... I am so sorry all this has happened... he is a hero... may his soul rest in peace...

To Will's family:

I met Will while visiting my son and daughter-in-law, Russell & Christina Collins, in Germany. He and Russell seemed to have such a good relationship. Russell has spoken so highly of Will on several occasions. I know that Russell considers Will a friend for life. A friendship such as these two young men shared as soldiers is to be cherished. My heart and prayers are there with you all as you go through this time. I consider it a privilege have met Will, and am so thankful there are such men as our son's to guard and protect us.
