Violet Combs Obituary

Violet Jane (Covey) Combs, 92, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord on Oct. 22, 2009. She was born April 25, 1917, in Bozeman to E.G. and Lucy Covey. She was the ninth of 14 children. While growing up, her family farmed in various locations in the Gallatin Valley.

On June 20, 1936, she married Tom Combs of Bozeman. Together they had two children, Janice Mae (Terry) Donich of Ripon, Calif., and Thomas Gary (Carol) Combs of Billings.

Violet was a devoted wife and loving mother who was known for her home cooking. Visitors to her home were always welcomed to the sweet smell of something fresh from the oven. She loved being with family and friends, spending time fishing, camping or having a potluck dinner. Violet was a lifelong member of the Grand Avenue Christian Church. In 2002, Violet moved from Bozeman to Billings, where she lived until time of her death.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom; and 11 of her brothers and sisters.

She leaves behind her two children; four grandchildren, Scott (Tammy) Combs of Billings, Damon (Kari) Donich of Ripon, Calif., Amy (Shan) Bittner of Billings, and Mike ( Brittney) Donich of Fresno, Calif.; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Edward (Lalia) Covey of Three Forks; a sister, Betty (Clinton) Gee of Three Forks; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

Arrangements are in the care of Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service; www.dokkennelson.com.
