I am a resident of a city in the state of Utah. Years a go we had a dedication for our new Veterans Memorial park. The fund raiser for this park was to purchase the American flag on a pole with a ribbon to honor one of our fallen brave soldiers. My flag is in honor of Specialist Darryl T. Dent. On this 20th anniversary of the September 11th tragedy, I want you to know that I display this flag and his ribbon on every occasion I am able to. It is an honor to do so. My father and brother both served in WW II, and Viet Nam. God bless you. Sincerely

”Honor and Remember” - “Project Compassion” We love our Soldiers! We love our country and we cannot express enough love and compassion to the families of our fallen heroes. War does not discriminate – It breaks our hearts to see the faces of the fallen. We want to give this gift to the hero’s Mother, Father and/or spouse. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization! Over 1,850 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
This is a gift! We have some wonderful sponsors who help with the costs, and only want you know that we care.
Contact us directly at [email protected] or go to www.heropaintings.com . If you have already had a portrait completed, we pray that you are enjoying the portrait and God Bless You.
Sincerely and Respectfully,

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Darryl, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

I didn't personally know you or your family, but saw this terrible news online and felt compelled to say something! - Thank you for your service to our country and keeping me and my family safe, secure and free - You paid the ultimate price for my freedom with your life and I am forever grateful - A simple thank you seems so little at a time like this - I pray for the family and friends you left behind and hope that they can somehow find peace at this very difficult time - God Bless you and all who knew you.

To the family and friends of SPC Darryl T. Dent, It's good to see that we are all keeping the memory of this fine soldier alive. It's hard to believe that it's been almost 4 yrs ago, it seems just like yesterday. I think about that day and Darryl T. Dent all the time. We should remember and cherish the good times we had, and most keep a silent promise to ourselves that we will never forget him and the impact that he has on our lives.

To the Dent family,
We have never forgotten your son and your family. You have always been in our deepest and most intimate prayers. The world tends to forget what this season is all about. They are caught up in buying gifts and caught up in the hustle and bustle, but since August of 2003 all of our lives have changed. A very special soul was called to serve in a different war, a war that only God has control over and Darryl will never hurt again . As I was looking through this guest book I noticed that my mother, Willei King had signed this book and sent you all words of encouragement. Well, she unfortunately passed away in Nov of 2003, and I never knew she had written you all. It gave me piece of mind to know that she is also watching over your family. Vincent and I want you to know that you are forever in our hearts our minds and our prayers. With all of our love,
Rashida, Vincent, Sekayia and Saadiq King-Short

On behalf of the King-Short family we have you in pray on the lost of your dear Darryl. Vincent Short was with your son when the Angel came and took Darryl on a special mission. God doesn't make error or mistakes but Darryl had to go and protect those 12 gates in the City,
A place were there's no crime or war. Vincent was still needed to continue his work here on earth. But God is very merciful in all that he does. We pray that your hurt and missing him will ease for he is home with God. The peace of the Lord be with you and your from the King of CT and the King-Short family of DC.
