DENT, DARRYL T., Specialist, USA
On Tuesday, August 26, 2003 in Iraq, SPECIALIST DARRYL T. DENT. Devoted son of Sabrina L. and Vernon L. Dent; brother of Lisa Justice and Vernon L. Dent, Jr. He is also survived by his grandparents, Christine P. and Joe G. Justice; special aunts, Joanna J. Pittman and Rose Tucker, many other relatives and friends. On Sunday, September 7, 2003 from 3 p.m. until time of service at 5 p.m., friends are invited to call at the Canaan Baptist Church, 1600 Newton St. N.W. Interment with Military Honors will be held Monday, September 8 at Arlington National Cemetery. Arrangements by LATNEY'S FUNERAL HOME.

I am a resident of a city in the state of Utah. Years a go we had a dedication for our new Veterans Memorial park. The fund raiser for this park was to purchase the American flag on a pole with a ribbon to honor one of our fallen brave soldiers. My flag is in honor of Specialist Darryl T. Dent. On this 20th anniversary of the September 11th tragedy, I want you to know that I display this flag and his ribbon on every occasion I am able to. It is an honor to do so. My father and brother both served in WW II, and Viet Nam. God bless you. Sincerely

Darryl was with my family and I for a short period during his last year in high school; he will always be in our hearts. When we speak of Darryl it makes us smile and feel sad at the same time; we know that he is in the protection of G'd.

I didn't personally know you or your family, but saw this terrible news online and felt compelled to say something! - Thank you for your service to our country and keeping me and my family safe, secure and free - You paid the ultimate price for my freedom with your life and I am forever grateful - A simple thank you seems so little at a time like this - I pray for the family and friends you left behind and hope that they can somehow find peace at this very difficult time - God Bless you and all who knew you.

It's hard to believe that it's been almost 4 yrs ago, it seems just like yesterday. I think about that day and Darryl T. Dent all the time. My heartfelt sympathy to the Dent family in the loss of Darryl. I did not know Darryl, but my heart is broken and I am saddened for your loss of such a fine young person and hero. May God bring you peace in your heart as you reflect on all the wonderful memories you hold so close. Please know that you are in my heart and prayers. They are caught up in buying gifts and caught up in the hustle and bustle, but since August of 2003 all of our lives have changed.
