Marjorie Bernice "Margie" Bledsoe

1926 - 2010

Marjorie Bernice Bledsoe, age 83, died on Thursday, January 14, 2010, at Golden Empire Convalescent Hospital in Grass Valley. Marjorie was born in Los Angeles County on October 26, 1926, to Floyd and Theresa (Reidinger) Trebil. "Margie" married Lloyd S. Bledsoe, and they raised their family in Compton, CA. In 1963, she and her husband moved to Paradise, CA and purchased "Maggie's Quickwash", formerly on Pearson Road. To many customers, she was known as "Maggie". Margie enjoyed the daily interaction with customers, and provided friendly first-class service to her clients. In 1971, she and her husband Lloyd, turned an old yellow school bus into a stylish motor home, sold the laundromat, and together pursued a lifelong dream of traveling across the United States. Later, they lived briefly in Arizona, Florida and Nevada before returning to Paradise in 1974. Margie was employed in the cleaning and home health care field until retirement. She helped many elderly seniors with end-of-life household care, and was a loving, caring presence in their lives. In 2006, Margie moved to Grass Valley where she resided at Golden Empire Convalescent Hospital following a stroke in 2004. The family is grateful for the care she received there.

Margie enjoyed gardening, puzzles and was always enthusiastic to play a game of rummy-tile. She will be remembered for her cheerfulness and smile and her willingness to serve others.

She was preceded in death by her son, Lloyd Stanley Bledsoe, Jr., daughter Linda Dutcher, and husband Lloyd Bledsoe. She is survived by her daughter Julia Riley; granddaughter Hannah Riley; son-in-law Vince Dutcher; grandson Cole Dutcher; sisters Patsy Metcalfe and Alice Rayborn; and sister Betty Copeland and niece Susan Dissing of Grass Valley who provided loving companionship during her days in Grass Valley. There will be a small family memorial in Paradise in April.
