Born in Hudson on April 17, 1972, son of Joseph Robsky Sr. and Bonnie French Robsky of Elizaville, he grew up in Claverack and was a 1990 graduate of Hudson High School.

After graduation, he joined the Marines and served in Okinawa. After his tour of duty ended, he joined the Army Reserve from 1994 to 1996, when he returned to active duty in Bosnia and Iraq. He was assigned to Fort Irwin, Calif., where he was a team leader for the specially trained unit of 759th Ordinance Company, Explosive Ordinance Disposal.

Besides his parents, he leaves a sister, Triva Robsky Haycock of Potsdam. He also leaves his fiancée, Carmen Snider of El Cojon, Calif.

Joey was always so quite and soft spoken. I remember him with a smile on his face. I don't believe I ever saw him angry. We went to elementary school, and right on up to high school together. I found out through a mutual friend just the other day on Facebook that Joey was gone. Seven years is a long time but I have moved away from NY and had no idea that this happened.
I feel so saddened that the family and the world has to go on without this wonderful and courageous man.
Joey, Thank You for your sacrifice to our Country and God Bless your fellow Soldiers who are with you in Heaven and those still fighting today! Watch over us all Joe until we meet again.

Love ya Joey!!!

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

It is difficult to know what to say since I want to express my sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Staff Sgt Robsky. Please know that your loved one is not forgotten. I wish everyone impacted by this tragic loss strength and peace. I hope that Staff Sgt Robsky knew that there are people in America who respect his great courage in serving as a member of the US military. Although I did not know him, I know that he must have been a very special person to be willing to do something that most Americans will never have to experience, and for that we can never say thank you enough.
Thank you Staff Sgt Robsky!

I have searched my old photos looking for one of SSG Robsky, which I found one I took of him in Bosnia 1999. I grew to know and respect him over there, and upon our return to Ft Hood where I processed his Top Secret clearance request - getting to know him better as I myself used to be EOD, thus we grew closer. When I went to Iraq in early 2004 I ran into our old XO who told me that SSG Robsky was KIA just a few months earlier; I was shocked and saddened. Later, in the same tour, my wife's ex-husband was killed in Iraq after he and I grew close and developed a solid friendship. After Darren Cunningham was killed, I adopted his daughter (which he told me to do if he was killed), and shortly after returning The Faces of The Fallen was on tour which we received an invitation to attend. I looked for and found SSG Robsky and SSG Cunningham's photo interpretations. Miss you SSG Robsky, your humor and integrity are missed. You were a good person, good soldier and an inspiration to us all who knew you!

My heartfelt sympathy to the Robsky family in the loss of Joseph. I did not know Joseph, but my heart is broken and I am saddened for your loss of such a fine young person and hero. May God bring you peace in your heart as you reflect on all the wonderful memories you hold so close. Please know that you are in my heart and prayers. My heart was touched by the many wonderful/beautiful things written about you. Joseph it has been over 4 years since you were taken. Please know that you are my hero and you will NEVER be forgotten.
I send each of you a hug from the most inner part of my heart.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Robsky:

My husband an EOD technician himself was serving in Baghdad during the same time when your son was lost tragically. His sacrifice and your enormous loss was felt then as it is now and I wanted to again express my deepest condolences to you both and your entire family.

I pray that your pain has been eased somewhat with the passage of time and that your memories of your dear son Joseph fill your heart with pride and joy. Joseph, and I dare say you and your family, have given more than anyone should have to, you have my deepest admiration.

With kindest regards,
Mrs. Cathleen Kunkle

Mr. and Mrs Robsky,

There are very few days that go by that I don't think of Joey at some time or another, in some form or fashion. He was a great American and a great soldier. You must be very proud of him - always. Yesterday was a hard day, I don't know why, but his death seemed harder this year than others before.
I hope that God has allowed you to continue your lives in a way that gives respect to Joey and that He watches out for all of us.

Respectfully,
Tim

THE WREATH is symbolic of the achievements and laurels gained by minimizing accident potentials, through the ingenuity and devotion to duty of its members. It is in memory of the EOD personnel who have given their lives while performing EOD duties.

THE BOMB was copied from the design of the World War II Bomb Disposal Badge; the bomb represents the historic and major objective of the EOD attack, the unexploded bomb. The three fins represent the major areas of nuclear, conventional, and chemical/biological warfare.

THE LIGHTNING BOLTS symbolize the potential destructive power of the bomb and the courage and professionalism of EOD personnel in their endeavors to reduce hazards as well as to render explosive ordnance harmless.

THE SHIELD represents the EOD mission which is to protect personnel and property in the immediate area from an inadvertent detonation of hazardous ordnance.

Rest in Peace Joe.

Dear Robsky Family,

I realize there is NOTHING that could be said to you that could ever ease the loss that your family has endured... I wouldn't even begin to try.

I simply felt the need to convey my deepest, heart felt condolences, to those that lived nearest me...

I SIMPLY HAD TO reach out to those that lived closest to me and let their families know that the sacrifice that their SONS & DAUGHTERS have made ARE NOT, and WILL NOT be forgotten, and were not made in vain!

We gladly add your beloved son to our prayers, along with ALL of our other fallen Sons & Daughters!

God Bless YOU and YOUR FAMILY, and "MAY THE PEACE OF THE LORD BE WITH YOU!"

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
