PETERSTOWN — James Edgar "Ed" Boothe, age 96, of Peterstown, W.Va., passed away, Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital, Pearisburg, Va. with his daughters by his side. Born May 7, 1913 at Peterstown, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles E. and Fleda Myrtle Shultz Boothe. Ed was retired from the Celanese Corp. with 40 years of service and was a member of the Appalachian Christian Center, Peterstown, W.Va. Ed loved farming, gardening and sharing stories of long ago of his days in Peters Mountain. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Oather, Charles "Ottie," John "Carl" and Aubrey "Orb" Boothe; and three sisters, Florence Wilson, Nellie Tabor and Mary Meadows.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Louise Ferguson Boothe; one son, James W. "Jimmy" Boothe and wife Bobbie of Sandston, Va.; four daughters, Shirley Boothe Francis, Anna "Sue" Boothe Hall and husband Larry, all of Peterstown, W.Va., Dreama Boothe Pate and husband Jack of Glen Daniel, W.Va. and Connie Boothe Robertson and husband Steven of Peterstown, W.Va.; two brothers, David Houston "Housie" Boothe and wife Doris and Richard "Hoover" Boothe and wife Ramona, all of Aiken, S.C.; twelve grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the Appalachian Christian Center with Pastor Michael Biggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Peterstown Cemetery, Rich Creek, Va. with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the church.
