Faith Dubuc Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 12 to Mar. 14, 2010.
It was always going to be too soon, seeing such a beautiful wife, devoted mother, loving gram, cherished sister, caring aunt, supportive cousin and kind friend return to the Creator. And so it was as Faith Dubuc passed away in her home among her heartbroken family on Thursday, March 11, 2010. Born a member of the Bear Clan of the Mohawk Tribe on December 13, 1933, Faye was a lifelong resident of the Tuscarora Indian Nation along with her adoring husband of over 56 years, Jerome Dubuc. Having spent much of her youth at the Thomas Indian School on the Cattaraugus Indian Nation, Faye emerged a strong-spirited and proud Native woman. Excelling at a variety of crafts, Faye's talents gained special renown beyond Native society when her beautiful, inspired beadwork and cornhusk doll creations were acquired for display at both the Smithsonian Museum of American History and the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, DC. Beyond her contributions to the arts, Faye also spent more than 20 years teaching culture and language to Native youth in Niagara County's Indian Education program. Her work in the arts and education was evident in her home, where every spare minute Faye had was consistently filled with friends and family, visiting in her infamous loft, which has more and more become Faye's personal museum and library. The greatest accomplishment and source of abounding pride in her life, according to Faye, was her endearing family. With Jerome, she raised seven exceptional children: Evelyn (Jeffrey) Rehm, Denise Gansworth, Joyce (David) Waldeck, Ann (Joseph) Ditto and William (late Dawn) Haviland of the Tuscarora Nation, and Linda (Nathan) Capton and Dr. Stephen (Audrey) Dubuc of Niagara Falls, and a multitude of grandchildren, all of whom act more and more like their beloved and sorely missed gram every day: Rob (Rebecca) Rice, Melissa Gansworth, Stephenie (Gerry) McGill, Jessica (Andrew Forgette) Capton, Jason Rehm, Nicole (Marcos Marques) Capton, Joseph Gansworth, Kimberly (Matthew Van Mater) Capton, Alan (Jenna) Gansworth, Chelsea Ditto, Becky Capton, Joseph Ditto, Jr., Jasmin Dubuc, Mariah Haviland, Jeremy Ditto, Jacob Rickard, Madelyn Rice, Aidan McGill, Brandon Rickard, Jr., Ethan Rice, Ashtyn McGill, Aeris McGill and Camila Marques. Faye is also survived by sisters, Loretta Hill, Anne McAninch, Patricia Ferguson and Edith Salerno; brother, William Lankin, and a host of nieces and nephews. Daughter of the late Thomas A. and Evelyn M. (Wilson) Ferguson, Faye was predeceased by siblings, Dione Seeloff, Fitzhugh Ferguson, LeRoy Ferguson, Joseph Ferguson, Anita Miller, Theresa Stiner, Cara Leta Lentz and Joseph Lankin. The family will be receiving friends and loved ones at RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn, NY, on Sunday from 4-8 PM. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Chapel, 5180 Chew Road, Sanborn, NY. Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery on the Tuscarora Nation. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made in memory of Faith to Holy Family Chapel, P.O. Box 167, Youngstown, NY 14174, or to the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation (716-845-4444). To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
