HUDSON -- Perl S. Benner, 91, died April 1, 2010, at Community Hospice House in Merrimack after a period of declining health.
He was born in Augusta, Maine, on Jan. 14, 1919, to Perle L. and Theodora B. (Sanborn) Benner. He was raised in Merrimack and made his home in Hudson for a number of years. He was educated in local schools and attended college, where he studied electronics.
He was a World War II veteran. He owned and operated Benner Electronic Service of Hudson, specializing in two-way radio equipment and tower installations for the police and fire departments.
He was a racing car enthusiast and at one time raced cars in Loudon.
Family includes sons Dana Benner of Goffstown and Gordon Benner of Greenfield; daughters Blair Chenard of Nashua and Susan Wherry of Manchester; sister Connie Hutchinson of Berwick, Maine; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Shirley (Jaquith) Benner, on Nov. 2, 2008. He was also predeceased by a daughter, Leslie E. Kashulines, in 2004; and a granddaughter, Claire I. "Tinky" Chenard, in 2006.
SERVICES: Calling hours are Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. in Farwell Funeral Home, 18 Lock St., Nashua. Interment will be private.
