I just found this almost 14 years later.
Jim has been my spirit animal(hahahaha) and inspiration(sort of) since we met in college. We became best friends and caused so much trouble together but always just to get a laugh.
I think about him still on a weekly basis and speak about him often.
Truly one of the best souls I have ever interacted with.
Much love my man!

Been thinking about my dad a lot lately. It's been 11 years and I miss and think about him each and every single day. It really brings me joy to go through and read all of these. It's really inspiring seeing how many peoples lives he impacted and I strive to be like him everyday. Hope your all doing well and I miss you dad. Hope your doing well up there!

I interned at the Broome County Probation Department in 2008 while I was a Senior at Binghamton University. Jim was my mentor. No matter how tough the situation, he always kept me laughing. He inspired me to pursue working with high risk kids as a full time career. He loved his job... and those kids on PINS loved him even more. I cannot say enough good things about Jim.

Mary and family - I am so sorry for your loss. He loved you and the kids so very much. My heart is truly broken. Please accept my deepest condolences.

God saw Jim was getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he Whispered, "come to me".
With Tearful eyes you saw Jim pass away. Although you loved him dearly, you could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke your heart to prove to you, He only takes the best.
With All My love. Christina

Jim was my son's probation officer under PINS. He answered our questions and he went out of his way to be there for us.

My heart goes out to his family and I know these words can not ease your pain but for what it is worth - he made a difference.

We are very sorry for your loss.

One of my favorite pictures that I have of Jim. He was always smiling. He was a great friend and will be missed. Kristy Rice

Dear Harley Family,
You are in our thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time, with the loss of Jim. We first met Jim when he was assigned to my middle school aged son, who was in the PINS Program. Wow! We were fortunate to be under his tutelage and care. Jim made such an impact on my son's life that not only did Josh straighten around, but he will be going to college in the fall and entering the field of criminal justice. He wants to help others as he was helped by your Jim. Thank you for sharing Jim. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

James Harley was truly an amazing person. It was an honor to have him as a friend. Though we lost touch over the years, I still think about all the great times we had at the barn playing hockey and jamming on the guitars. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Harley family during this difficult time.

Dear Harley Family,
I am so sorry to learn of Jim’s passing. He was a dear friend during our time at Elmira. Although we didn’t keep in touch, I always remembered him fondly. We had many great adventures together. He was the best listener; the kids he worked with were lucky to have him. Jim opened my mind and heart to so many new experiences, and I will always be grateful for that. May you all find peace in knowing that Jim’s memory will live on in the many people he inspired.

I was blessed to be assigned an art easel next to Jim during my second year at Elmira College. Jim always had an inspiring word, a comforting hug, and a welcoming smile. I am not surprised he grew to working in a field such as he chose. He always had so much love. I am sad to hear of his passing. My prayers reach out to his wife, children, family, and friends. What a gift Jim's life was!

Dear Harley family,
I went to college with Jim. I will never forget the trip I took with Jim to Cleveland to visit a good friend during a college break. We traveled in my little Nissan in about 2'+ of snow and it was dark outside. My knuckles where as white as the snow. Jim was so supportive and funny. We had conversations about philosophy and therapy. I couldn't have made the trip without him! You never forget someone like Jim.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Deacon Tom- you have given so much to the community- and to our family- and your son was following right in your footsteps. I just spoke with him 2 weeks ago...and he proudly stated "if you teach at OLGC then you know my Dad". We talked in length about you, and it was all good. You are quite a hard act to follow...and I truly think your son suceeded in doing so. I am deeply deeply sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you and your family.

Dear Harley Family,
I am so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I know we didn't keep in touch but I have such wonderful and fun memories of our years at Elmira College together. Two of my favorites - one was playing hockey out in your barn (before you moved) and the other was taking a poster that accused us of stealing a Christmas decoration that we had been given. I'll always remember him - You are all in my prayers.
