Fred G. Clark of Slidell, La., passed away at his daughter's home Sunday, April 25, 2010 from complications of lung cancer. He was born on April 22, 1931 to Rosa Lee (Dillard) and Sandy Clark of Ozark, Ala. He served on the U.S.S. Hector in the United States Navy during the Korean War, drove trucks, welded, worked construction, and worked for Kaiser Aluminum from 1963 to 1986.
He and his wife were married for 49 years and together raised three children, Fred Lamont Clark of Hammond, La., Judy Lynn (Clark) Rucker, and Michael Ray Clark, who preceded his parents in death. They also raised their granddaughter, Stephanie Lynn (Clark) Swalwell, of Wichita Falls, Texas. He left his impact on five grandchildren; Michael Rucker, Melissa (Rucker) Monaghan, Shane Swanner, Chad Swanner, and ten great-grandchildren; as well as his children's spouses and grandchildren's spouses, by marriage — Bo Rucker, Tina Marie (Wahl) Clark, Scott Swalwell, Caroline Swanner, Nicole Swanner and Shawn Monaghan. He also leaves behind two sisters, Dutchie Grantham of Enterprise, Ala., and Mazel Wilkes of Chanceler, Ala., and nieces and nephews, Ronald and Donald Grantham, Curtis and Greg Townsend, Wynona Sewell, Edgar, Raymond and Ramona Wolfe, Patrick Cunningham, Johnny Wilkes, John Hendrix and Jean Wolfe Hendrix, Jerry McDuffie; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He died peacefully, looking forward to his, "Sleep without dreams" and to being resurrected to meet his Lord and Savior on the blessed day that He returns to this Earth. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of D.T. Williams Funeral Home, 67525 Hwy. 41, Pearl River, La. With visitation starting at 10 a.m. til service time.
Interment to follow at Sycamore Cemetery in Picayune.
