I will always remember that wonderful smile and the TLC that Mrs.Hendershott showed to me and of course, I will never look at a marigold without thinking of her. We would have the best time transplanting and I would love listening to her stories. I know her loving family will miss her greatly and so will I.

Aunt Mary. The twinkle in her blue eyes. "Lawd-a-mercy," she'd say and be off and running in a rollicking tale about characters in Angier, and about Grandaddy and Nanny. Then once my mother was gone, the stories were about her too, keeping the memory of her vivid and warm for me. Aunt Mary knew how to do many things well. She showed me how to sew a hem that would be flat, to judge if an old oak chair was worth refinishing, and where to thump a watermelon for ripeness. The screwball escapades! She and my mother, trekking through remote stretches of Florida, hunting antiques, dragging along Gary, Bruce and me. And the music. The first time I ever tried to dance it was around the Angier baby grand to her boogie-woogie. She brought so much joy to my life, and now these sweet memories bring tears to my eyes.
We Wards were never happier as a family than when Aunt Mary was with us.

Mary, Your smile always will be remembered. I will never forget the fun we had on our trip to Jacksonville for the Georgia/Florida Game and all the times you would wave and say hello when I ran past you when I worked in Athens for UGA. You will be missed.
