Martin Wikle Obituary

CHILLICOTHE: Martin E. "Marty" Wikle, 92, of Chillicothe, died 6:04 a.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2010 in the Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
He was born August 17, 1918, in Fayette County, OH, to the late Foster and Juanita Rowe Wikle. On September 14, 1941, he married the former Betty Jane Bach who died October 9, 2009.
Surviving are children, Thomas Martin (Leslie) Wikle, of Richmond, VA, and Charles Edwin Wikle, of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Brad Wikle and Christopher (Michele) Wikle; and step grandchildren, Alicia and Ross Hertenstein.
He was predeceased by a sister, Jean Wikle; and a daughter-in-law, Sharon Lea Wikle.
Marty served in the US Army Aircorps during World War II. He began working at Kroger at the age of 12. Marty worked for Kroger for 48 years retiring in 1983 as District Zone Manager.
Marty was involved for several years with the Ohio State Patrol Auxiliary and was a member of Elks Lodge #52, Scioto Lodge No. 6 F & AM, Aladdin Temple Shrine of Columbus, the Chillicothe Evening Lions Club, VFW Post 108, American Legion Post 62, and the Chillicothe Country Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, September 24, 2010 in the Walnut Street United Methodist Church with Reverend Scott Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery, Circleville. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
