ROBERT HOOKER Obituary

ROBERT C. HOOKER, SR.
McALLEN - Bob Hooker of McAllen, Texas passed this life on Friday, December 3, 2010 at the Briarcliff Nursing Home. Bob Hooker, a successful businessman in McAllen for more than 50 years, was born April 27, 1919 in Lawn, Texas. Upon returning from active duty in the U. S. Army Air Corps in the China-Burma-India Theatre during World War II, he moved to the Rio Grande Valley where he married Willie Mae Meek in 1946 at the First Baptist Church in McAllen. They had a wonderful life.
Bob and Willie Mae had two beautiful children, LaNan and Bobby. Bob's beloved wife Willie Mae preceded him in death in 1988.
Bob later married Ladenia Murphy in 1989.
Bob is survived by his wife Ladenia, his brother Claud Hooker and his sister, Jane Hooker. He is also survived by his beloved daughter LaNan McKinney and her husband Mike of Austin, granddaughter Lauren McKinney Villarreal, JD, and husband Jeff of Austin; grandson W. Blake McKinney, MD, and wife Erika, along with great grandchildren William Chad McKinney, Braden Michael McKinney, and Skylar Sands McKinney, all of Roseville, California. Bob is also survived by his son Robert C. (Bobby) Hooker, Jr. and wife Gail, along with their daughter Kellie Elizabeth Hooker, all of Magnolia, Texas.
Bob is also survived by his wife Ladenia's children, grandchildren, and a great-grandchild, Melody Alleyn and husband Rob and children Alyssa, Jimmy, and Stephanie Elmore and her husband John; Michael Murphy of McAllen; James Murphy and wife Dorie, along with their daughter Olivia; and Lynn Murphy and wife Susie, and their daughter Chris Hawthorn and husband Gary and their son Barron Hawthorn.
Bob Hooker was also preceded in death by his parents, Maggie Flora Willis Hooker and Ira Daniel Hooker, by his brother Ira Hooker, and by two sisters, Madeleine Graves and Lola Nix.
Bob spent many hours pursuing his love of fishing, often making trips to the coast of Mexico with his brother Claud and his close friend, the late Pancho Hamlin. In later life, he loved hand-crafting wooden furniture which he freely gave to friends and family. He will be missed.
Services will be held at 10 AM at Kreidler Funeral Home, 314 N. 10th Street in McAllen on Monday, December 6, 2010. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in McAllen.
Pallbearers will include Jimmy Alleyn, Lynn Murphy, Mike McKinney, James Murphy, Rob Alleyn, MD, John Elmore, Bobby Hooker, Jeff Villarreal, JD, and Michael Murphy.kreidlerfuneralhome.com
